#MSWL: I love seeing so many YA submissions, but I’m especially hungry to see more middle grade—whether that’s comedy, horror, adventure, fantasy, historical, or just a sweet, quiet, lovely contemporary (I love a challenge).
Happy Tuesday! Here's your BookEnds #MSWL for today: "In YA & MG, Naomi is always on the hunt for strong fantasy with edgy themes and exciting, realistic voices . . . contemporary stories featuring powerful friendships. "
Happy Thursday! Here's your BookEnds #MSWL for today: "She tends to gravitate toward contemporary fiction more than historical, unless the story focuses on underrepresented events or perspectives in history." @RachMBrooks
Beyond that, some general things I gravitate towards when reading: unreliable narrators, strong sense of place, atmosphere, lush settings (in fantasy AND contemporary/realistic fiction), strong emotional resonance, twists, surprises, literary/lyrical writing. #MSWL
MG/YA: Fantasy is another first love! Everything from contemporary fantasy to high fantasy & epic fantasy. I LOVE unique world-building!
I'd also like lighter, even funny fantasy where the stakes aren't about saving the world, but adventure & characters. More Hobbit than LOTR.
MG: I'm VERY open here, from contemporary to any genre you could think of, and the whole range from lower MG to upper! From light, funny, and whimsical, to darker and more serious. I'd also love an MG mystery or horror!

quick #mswl update, I am primarily looking for MG (all genres), YA Contemporary, Historical (all ages), and Graphic Novel (all ages/genres). Those are my heaviest focus. BUT, also open to others, so check out my MSWL page!
#amquerying #querytip #WritingCommunity
Yep, open to queries!
On my #MSWL: adult SFF, MG (particularly fantasy), YA (also particularly fantasy, but I love contemporary too), and PB. I'm looking for exciting new projects and dynamic voices. Surprise the heck outta me.
Last night I procrastinated so much on Actual Things (cleaning? life? etc) that I made myself a website 👀 taragonzalez.com
& bc examples are always helpful, here are some of my all-time fav contemporary YAs:
⚽️FURIA by yamile saied méndez
💕THE WAY YOU MAKE ME FEEL by maurene goo
😈SHADOWSHAPWER by djo
🐼AMERICAN PANDA by gloria chao
📚THE EDUCATION OF MARGOT SANCHEZ by lilliam rivera
i love contemporary YA full of heart that plays with speculative elements in a way that hinges on the emotional connections between people.
i want stories that tackle weighty sociopolitical issues from an emotional, character-first POV, & with a thru-line of hope & joy #mswl
im ALWAYS looking for ✨contemporary✨ stories that center BIPOC & lead w joy!!!!
for RRP i'd love stories w an emphasis on intersectionality, deeply tied to culture & identity--bonus points for stories that play with magic/supernatural/mythology in fresh, exciting ways #mswl

The top three things I'd love to see more of in my query inbox, in no particular order 📚 #MSWL
1. Romance of any subgenre, especially if it's queer or polyamorous
2. Contemporary fantasy with unique magic systems and lore
3. Gothic horror, particularly from marginalized voices
My inbox is mostly fantasy right now, which is exciting! But this is your reminder that I'm still seeking romance, especially queer romance, romcoms, contemporary romance, and erotic romance💕#MSWL
If you'd like me to take a look at your book, query me: querymanager.com/query/saint
GN - all genres but especially horror, dark fantasy, or LGBTQ+
Novels - romance, contemporary, historical, and MAYBE fantasy. Super picky there. Really want horror like Babadook or Midnight Mass or Haunting of Hill House
contemporary, romcom, fantasy, historical
If fantasy, you've GOT to bring your A-game. Very picky here for my list in fantasy, but definitely open to so many more contemporary and historical stories!
again, I am dying for more LGBTQ+ and historical; would love contemporary, fantasy, and horror here, too
Think outside the box. For YA, it needs to be something that totally immerses me in the characters or the world or the emotions
