#mswl: YA novels-in-verse and bios of bad-ass queers throughout history; and as always more BIPOC voices in my query pile

#MSWL I’d love to see more #ownvoices books about PoC that don’t center racism as the conflict/hook

Do Black writers know that everything we create doesn’t have to be about our trauma? I don’t wanna see another get out the hood, police brutality, abusive relationship, segregation, or slavery story. We deal with that shit every day. TF I WANNA WATCH THAT IN MY FREE TIME FOR

This is why I keep asking for the stories that feature POC and more specifically black teens and adults in happy situations like falling in love, figuring out who they are, having great friendships because the world is already hard enough for us as it is. #MSWL

Something I VERY much want more of: submissions by Jewish people who aren't Ashkenazi! I want to see more stories by/about Jewish #POC, Sephardic, Mizrahi, & Ethiopian Jews. Love stories. Fantasy. SciFi. Humor. Historical. Non-scary mysteries. Literary. Bring 'em all! #MSWL

You know what I really want to see in my inbox when I'm open to submissions 11/1-12/15/19? Super romantic, swoon-worthy & humorous YA in all genres (well, not horror or thrillers). I'd particularly LOVE to see stories by #POC & always welcome the full spectrum of #LGBTQIA #MSWL

Some ideas? How about:
- 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU, but gay.
- a POC BRIDGET JONES DIARY
- a millennial SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE
- a neurodiverse YOU GOT MAIL
- a plus-size of FIRST 50 DATES (or any book because I need more plus-size characters) #mswl 3/3

#MSWL ALERT: "I want to do a highly illustrated middle-grade fantasy novel about a child of color." nyti.ms/35rxX3z

I'd really love to see more parenting books (guides, memoirs, etc.) by authors of color in my query box.

My wife and I had a hard time finding those when it was baby time, and I'd like to work on that. #MSWL

And as always -- all marginalized voices are welcome! Believe me, I understand how hard it is for queer, poc, disabled, and other marginalized individuals to succeed in publishing. You are always welcome in my inbox. #MSWL

My clients have pointed out that I've got a specific subset of YA Nerd Girl Romance, and I am always here for more! Queer & POC girls very welcome, and I'm more likely to be won over by the romance if it intersects with other themes - family, friendship, self-discovery. #mswl

Replying to @jldallow

And, of course, I am always looking for stories featuring disability, mental illness, LGBTQ, POC, #ownvoices, different cultures, different religions...INCLUSIVE. #MSWL

I'm open to vampires! You've just got to give me something different, unique, with a wonderful plot or setting. Still thinking there's so much we can do with New Orleans POC vamps or vamps in island regions.

Also would love vamps with the humor of What We Do In The Shadows #MSWL

Hell yes if those historicals are feminist, LGBTQ+, POC. Definitely interested in non-American and non-UK settings. #MSWL
