•Laugh-out-loud moments that are written with the reader in mind

* Novels that are by & about people whose tales are yet untold
* Soulful, insightful, & well-crafted projects
* Stories that leave me cackling 😆 or sobbing 😭 long after I've read THE END

In PBs:
* Thought-provoking or entertaining stories, but not ones whose aim is to teach a lesson
* Unique characters w/ a very specific & kid-centric point of view
* Marginalized voices that allow the reader to feel seen & heard
* Narratives that make me giggle 🤣 or tear up 🥹

Illustrators:
* Skillful portfolio w/ interconnected illustrations that accurately represent the world we live in
* Stand-out characters & scenes that compel a reader to turn the page
