Knives Out was one of my favs this past year, and I would love to see more books like that: murder mystery/detective stories or really any classic subgenre with a contemporary, socially conscious twist. #MSWL

Mary C. Moore @Mary_C_Moore · 4d

Romcom (or just rom) mystery in a kooky setting or strange land. Think a contemporary twist on Mary Stewart and Victoria Holt. #MSWL

I'm building out the adult side of my list in 2020, so if you have an exciting, fresh #romance, #WomensFiction, #cozymystery, #thriller, #suspense, or narrative #nonfiction project, PLEASE SEND IT TO ME!!! #mswl

Kianna Shore @KiannaShore · Jan 10

I find a mixture of genres THRILLING. So something like historical crime I would LOVE. In fact, universe, PLEASE send me more #historical fiction. I’d also love to see some contemporary thrillers and mysteries - a sort of YA Gone Girl (fingers crossed!).

Jessica Faust @BookEndsJessica · Jan 10

I'm looking mostly for mystery, suspense, thriller, upmarket and literary fiction. I'd also love more women's fiction. I want more stories like Whisper Network, My Sister the Serial Killer, and Bright River to name a few. #MSWL

Barry Goldblatt @barrygoldblatt

I would love to find a fantastic animal fantasy! Watership Down is an all time fav, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh as well, but I also love the Redwall books. Bring me your talking animal stories! #MSWL

Sort of adjacent to that, I also have been thinking a lot about The Rescuers, a series I devoured as a kid. They’re super dated now sadly, so I’d love to find a new version, where kids and talking animals interact and go on adventures, solve mysteries! #MSWL

I want to concentrate on building my adult list.

Send me your romances, contemporaries, grounded fantasies, historical fiction (feeling the 1920s these days), thrillers/mysteries, speculative, and contemporary stories.

Oh, and horror! But nuanced horror. #MSWL.

Erin Clyburn @erin_clyburn · Jan 2

-Low fantasy/portal fantasies (YA/adult): Something transportive but based in our world, like THE HAZEL WOOD.

-Middle grade: All. Of. It. Especially mysteries: Always looking for GREENGLASS HOUSE or WESTING GAME vibes.

📚 For writers who are trying to plan for 2020 querying here is my wishlist 📚

Before you send a query to me (or any agent): Please make sure you have polished your manuscript. It should have been critiqued/beta read/something of that nature before sending it to me. (1/6)
