#MSWL day is a great day to announce that I'm now ACQUIRING MIDDLE GRADE! What's on my #MG wishlist? Magical realism! Humor! Adventure! Contemporary fantasy!

#MSWL - #MG: I'm still on the hunt for a MG that's like 'In a Heartbeat'. I want that queer first-crush book. Figuring out who your MC is as a person, be it who they "like" or if their birth gender isn't what they truly are. Your challenge: make me cry.

#MSWL - #MG: I will always want more creepy AF middle grade. Always and forever. Give me lyrical voices and atmosphere for *days* and I will love you. Ghost stories with a twist. Creepy carnivals. Alternate worlds a la Coraline. GIMME GIMME PLZ.

In #MG #MSWL I’d love to see: upbeat contemporary, magical realism, fun-filled fantasy adventures, charming mysteries with strong hooks, as well as stories that deal with shifting friend groups, activism, and projects that feature pets (especially dogs!) (3/)

Also, I LOVE LOVE LOVE stories that have a group of 4 or more characters going on adventures, figuring out problems, or trying to save the world. MG or YA, but give me stories like STAND BY ME, SANDLOT, STRANGER THINGS. #mswl

Speaking of fantasy. I want a story about a character based off Nico di Angelo from the Percy Jackson universe. I love that little tragic-son-of-hades boy. To be more specific, here is a prompt for you: What if Nico was Arya Stark? YA or MG works for me! #mswl

Graphic Novels. Especially middle grade and YA. #MSWL

I am heavily looking for MG and YA thrillers and paranormal horrors for the fall/Halloween season...and probably beyond that too. WHERE ARE ALL THE GHOSTS, DEMONS, MONSTERS, and humans who act like they're one of the above? #MSWL

I always love books that play with structure, format, and narrative conventions. I'd love something that does for a YA or MG narrator what (stay with me) FLEABAG did for the fourth wall in TV. #MSWL

You'll have noticed that I've acquired a fair amount of queer YA lately and I am not! done! Always looking for more LGBTQ+ characters for both YA and MG audiences, and no, it does not have to be a rom-com! #MSWL

In MG, my list is fantasy-heavy, and, like, don't stop sending me MG fantasy because I love it--but I want to see more MG contemporary! Particularly one that will make me ugly cry on the train, and then carefully glue my heart back together. #MSWL

*MG novel that revolves around a big family (traditional or untrad) and plays with form the way Jane the Virgin did
*YA novel about a young tennis phenom (like Coco Gauff!)

Thing I’ve noticed: my YA list skews more girl, and my MG list more boy. I’d like to balance that, but still maintaining my overarching tastes: high concept, good plots, not-issue-books, joy and exploration and fantasy (both literal and just escapism). #MSWL
