I would LOVE more genre-blendy high concept projects, whether magical realism, SFF, time travel, etc. Also love reimaginings/retellings/flipping any fairy tale on it's head. MG and YA. #AskECLA #MSWL

I would really like an incredibly, joyfully queer sci fi or epic fantasy, please. Like as rainbow and full of gay glee as possible. And fun tech. But also blow stuff up. Also magic. Or aliens.

Since I'm opening back up for queries tomorrow, I thought I'd share some--not all--of my #MSWL must-haves.

1st up, I want a pair of witchy sisters or witchy friends with ancestral magic wrestling angry restless spirits in a dark setting, like a swampy, marshy woodland.

I am listening to BOYS OF ALABAMA by @genhudson on audio, & it's just what I always dream of in Southern fiction: It explores everything that's beautiful & ugly about the South, with a touch of magic. It's stunning. #MSWL

I am really hoping to acquire a sweeping family saga by a Latinx writer with gorgeous, lush, lyrical prose. Bonus points if there are elements of magical realism.

I’m really looking forward to #KidLitGN! I’ll be looking for MG + YA graphic novels from authors and author/illustrators. I love realism and magic and science and horror—I love it all! I’m also particularly keen to find projects from diverse creators! #mswl

Thinking a little bit about #MSWL tonight! I'm actively seeking Adult SFF. I look for explosively different worlds, intricate politics,new/different presentations of magic,&sci fi that focuses on influence of tech rather than tech itself. Writing quality/originality matters most.

First and foremost: MIDDLE GRADE. I am extremely hungry for a big middle grade series with stellar world building, cool magic, and a strong emotional core. I love my middle grade with lots of heart that works hand-in-hand with the high stakes adventure. #mswl
