Jumi Bello @jumibelloHey Literary Twitter, lend me your mind: tell me your favorite books that have centered houses and/or trains. Is there a book where a house is the narrator or the structural link? A book where a train is the literary star? Interpret however you wish. The wilder, the better.
Oooh this made me realize I’ve never done an #MSWL for MG or YA with an unusual narrator!
Shae McDaniel @ShaelynCherieBecause I know some YA writers follow me, I would like to speak this into existence: Historical YA novel following a girl living in California during the Night Stalker's reign of terror, please and thank you
My aesthetic as an agent is this tweet. #mswl
Aviva Loeb @avivaloebThe high school I went to was found to have unsafe levels of toxic chemicals so they built a makeshift school in the Macy's in the town's abandoned mall, and I have never seen something more dystopian pic.twitter.com/wSsH4a68C1
How fast can someone write me a YA novel with THIS as the high school. Bonus points if the kids take on the charge of getting attention/funding to fix their school. #MSWL
#mswl I don’t know why but I want a YA about that quiet girl who gets “A pleasure to have in class” from every teacher, literally titled A PLEASURE TO HAVE IN CLASS, where it opens with her seeing that report card and then descends into her setting (figurative) fire to everything
Just learned there’s an apartment complex in Seoul specifically for Korean-Americans adoptees to return & connect with their culture/identity and I NEED THIS as an #ownvoices YA novel. Would consider based on sample chapters & work with you to develop it. #MSWL
Mandy Hubbard @MandyHubbardWhile we're doing #AskECLA, let's talk about what stuff we're dying to see in our inbox, eh? (@LindaEpstein @GarrettAlwert) I'll start by saying ROMANCE. ALL THE YA ROMANCE. Or hints of romance in MG. Dark and angsty or light and funny, BRING IT.
#MSWL: YA comedic post-apoc survival novel where they assemble a team to survive:
1 to drive a stick shift
1 who can read a map
1 who can read “ancient scripts” (Cursive. I’m talking about cursive)
1 who can use a land line
A “math genius” who can do basic math w/o a calculator.
I would LOVE more #ownvoices Filipino YA or MG (set in the US or the Philippines) in my slush. My SIL is from the Philippines, my niece/nephew are being raised bilingual, I would love to find a gem to champion! #mswl
Emile Horne @emile_horne@MandyHubbard Yes, I should do my best to prepare for my new gig. Maybe I can write old sea shanties.
#mswl would love a serious/realistic YA (not tonally like OITNB) set in a juvenile detention center. I’m watching Netflix’s GIRLS INCARCERATED, and crying during every episode. These girls never got a fair shake at life.
