#MSWL I really want fun queer romances. All across the LGBTQ+ spectrum, with smart, fully developed characters, sharp dialogue/witty banter, family/friend/career drama, and beautiful, totally explored settings.
Jennifer Azantian ❄️☃️❄️ @jenazantianWithin the immigrant experience, there's so much I'd like to see reflected in all subgenres. (1/2) #MSWL
The desire to both assimilate & hold tightly to your culture, the very real fear, food-is-love, the closeness of family. Of course, there isn't only one way this plays out, & I want to read them all! #MG #YA #MSWL (2/2)
I love laughter, warmth, introverts, character-driven narratives, perseverance, being transported to different places and times, gorgeous and grounded world-building, heart, friendship, and family.
Here’s what I’m seeking this year! #mswl scribblesandwanderlust.com/2019/01/01/msw…
"Plot-driven story of marriage, complicated family drama, or mother/daughter relationships i.e. THIS IS HOW IT ALWAYS IS, EVERYTHING I NEVER TOLD YOU, MATING FOR LIFE, MODERN LOVERS, THE NEST, SHE REGRETS NOTHING, THE PEOPLE WE HATE AT THE WEDDING" @carlywatters #MSWL
Chelsey Emmelhainz @CKEmmelhainzMy current #MSWL:
- toxic female friendships
- spooky suspense (maybe w/ supernatural/horror bent)
- suspense featuring cults and witches (a la, THE CRAFT)
- family dysfunction + messed up secrets
- female serial killers
It appears my #MSWL list is evergreen, because I'm definitely still hunting for all these elements in my mystery/suspense/women's fiction submissions...
Sarah Walton @noegopictures@d_annouche @Donovanesque Hi Stacey, @Donovanesque In regard to setting of the novel, I know that Hallmark traditionally prefers for a character to travel from a big city to a small town for Christmas, but is it okay for the protagonist to travel from one big city to another big city?
GREAT question. Characters can go to a big city, or stay in their big city or small town. The important thing here is the emotional journey and re-connecting to the things that matter most: like community, love, friendship, family, hope, or their truest self. #hallmark #MSWL
This is a #MSWL I like to put out there every now and then. I want an upmarket women’s fiction where a family member is on trial for murder and the protagonist(s) don’t know whether he did it or not. I want to see the meat of the emotions in that unthinkable situation.
#mswl: historical (1900s), romcom, immigrant stories, diverse voices, high society, light suspense or speculative hook, campus setting, southern, complex female friendships, family dramas, gothic, nostalgia. Upmarket with commercial hook. Agented only.
