Is it still #MSWL day?

Someone send me an adult SFF novel centering a messy, diverse found family who have to overthrow the empire, or uncover a plot, or fight off invaders—but at the end of the day, you know they’re doing it to save each other as much as to “save the world.”

Meredith Bernstein @mgoodbern · 12 Sep 2018

As it’s #MSWL day, I’d like to find several things in my inbox: hypnotic family saga(multigenerational ); psychological suspense with wit and insight; love story with big emotional twists. And any truly platform driven non-fiction. Send it!!

It's #mswl day! Ok, so...
- queer girl contemp realistic graphic novels in YA
- & lgbtq+ characters and stories in any format and genre for any age, but especially MG
- found/chosen family narratives in YA
- sex-positive YA
- Own Voices stories w/ South & Central America settings

Just had a great brainstorming meeting with the gals so, to completely rip-off of @thejumbles: #MSWL stories about death & dying & grief, family, and hope à la THEY BOTH DIE AT THE END and "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World"

dongwon @dongwon · 12 Sep 2018

Author/illustrator graphic novels for YA and MG. Something fluffy and with a good romance. I love found family stories and kids finding ways to resist corrupt power structures. A unique visual style and a distinct perspective is essential. #MSWL

#MSWL A novel--for any age group--about the breaking point in a friendship or family relationship. Tell me about having the strength to end contact with someone who can't be helped/is actively toxic. Relatedly: a book about intentional familial estrangement and its effects.

Thrilled to see 2019 already trying to make witches happen. Multigenerational, feminist, family-heavy witch book for YA or MG? Do want! #mswl

And I'm always looking for stories with perennial themes (love, fears, family) that could pop on holiday promotion, like my darling Dad By My Side #MSWL

Quressa Thee Dragon (she/her/queen) @qnrisawesome · 12 Sep 2018

Stories about generational wealth in POC families. And stories about moving into a higher socioeconomic status than the rest of ones family. #MSWL

Jessica Felleman @jmfelleman · 12 Sep 2018

In the vein of What Will Be Wild (Julia Fine), contemporary, maybe magical, adventure with a young woman discovering her family’s dark past in order to break free of it. #mswl

I'd love a world like Fullmetal Alchemist. Alchemy is a HUGE hook for me! #MSWL I also love the family aspect and struggle the characters go through. It's not all happiness but it's not straight success either. Great confusion in morals here

Melissa Danaczko @mad2034 · 12 Sep 2018

#MSWL historical fiction from all around the world (I love my western-front WWII but there's more to life than that!); campus novels, especially about first-gen students; high-concept/speculative lit fiction like Age of Miracles or Station 11; family dramas always and forever

Claire Harris @claire_m_harris · 12 Sep 2018

Would love a cozy mystery where two sisters take over their family’s small-town bookstore and are determined to solve the disappearance of their favorite customer #MSWL

Claire Draper 🏳️‍🌈 @draper_claire · 12 Sep 2018

Send me all the happy, healthy family #MG, like Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella but Middle Grade. #MSWL

Carly Watters @carlywatters · 12 Sep 2018

Evergreen #MSWL: Family secrets & single events that chance the course of many lives i.e. COMMONWEALTH, ATONEMENT

Carly Watters @carlywatters · 12 Sep 2018

Plot & character driven stories of marriage, complicated family drama, or mother/daughter relationships i.e. THIS IS HOW IT ALWAYS IS, EVERYTHING I NEVER TOLD YOU, MATING FOR LIFE, MODERN LOVERS, THE NEST, SHE REGRETS NOTHING, THE PEOPLE WE HATE AT THE WEDDING etc #mswl

Tracy WANTS A NAP Marchini @TracyMarchini · 12 Sep 2018

contemporary middle grade stories of friendship or family – potentially with a touch of magic #mswl

Tracy WANTS A NAP Marchini @TracyMarchini · 12 Sep 2018

picture books where the child has a non-traditional family structure (preferably where that isn’t the main plot point) #mswl
