For #YA I also would love to find a fun historical with modern sensibilities (think A Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue). #MSWL

Kristy Hunter @KristySHunter · Feb 10

For me, it's all about voice. Sometimes it's the project that I least expect that pulls me in. If in doubt (and if it is something that I representπŸ˜€), query! #MSWL #MG #YA #Adult

Kristy Hunter @KristySHunter · Feb 10

For #YA send me all your charming rom-coms, your heartfelt exploration of sibling dynamics, thrillers that will keep me up at night turning the pages, and all the southern gothic you can handle. Oh & anything with hints of magic. I LOVE contemporary fantasy & light fantasy #MSWL

Kristy Hunter @KristySHunter · Feb 10

I’m ALWAYS looking for underrepresented voices and stories told through new or unique lenses #MSWL #YA #MG #Adult

finally, gimme that YA with unicorns πŸ¦„. just...gimme. #mswl

Rebecca Kuss @reebsthereader · Feb 10

i'm desperate for commercial, soap-y, contemporary YA that is both highly aspirational and has high emotional stakes. think anything from casey mcquiston's RED WHITE AND ROYAL BLUE to jennifer lynn barnes' THE FIXER #mswl

Rebecca Kuss @reebsthereader · Feb 10

in general, would love more contemporary YA that takes place outside the U.S. #mswl

Rebecca Kuss @reebsthereader · Feb 10

i am forever looking for YA written by korean/korean american authors that feature korean/korean american characters - especially contemporary stories that take place in korea πŸ‡°πŸ‡·πŸ‡°πŸ‡·πŸ‡°πŸ‡· #mswl

Rebecca Kuss @reebsthereader · Feb 10

first and always, i am looking for YA by underrepresented creators, featuring underrepresented characters - especially commercial, contemporary fiction that leads with joy #mswl

agent friends! watching bong joon ho make history last night πŸ‡°πŸ‡·πŸ₯³πŸ’• has restored my faith in the power of creativity

so here is my 2020 YA #mswl. let's make stories together & continue to strive towards a better world that offers mirrors, windows, and doors to all young people

Amy Stapp @AmyStappNY · Feb 7

I've received a wave of queries from incredibly talented LGBT authors lately, so it seems like a good time to send the reminder: I'm always looking for diverse voices of ALL varieties and cultures, in YA/Adult/MG. I want to know your unique story. #mswl #ownvoices

Tara is open to queries @Literary_Tara · Feb 7

Can I have like a YA Romcom set in a medieval fantasy world? Maybe a GN of this? #MSWL

Becca Podos @RebeccaPodos · Feb 6

Since my call for poisoned pastry shop stories has let to fantastic results, another #MSWL: please send me your adult/YA/crossover books starring a grownup Kristy Thomas from The Babysitters Club. You know, bossy, badass, wears baseball tees, detail-oriented, clearly queer...

Becky LeJeune @BeckyLeJeune · Feb 6

First and foremost, #ownvoices! I rep YA and adult: horror, SFF, thrillers/mysteries (not cozies), historical, and general fiction. Also COOKBOOKS! #mswl

Alex Slater @abuckslater · Feb 6

Finally saw Midsommar last weekend. Still thinking about this scene.

What I loved about it is that the horror is always out in the open. There's no dark. You can't turn away. And what's scariest sometimes is what you can see and not ignore.

#MSWL: #YA folk horror #MG weirdness

Replying to @erin_clyburn

I'm hungry for middle grade. I would also love more literary YA. & I would love an adult memoir/nonfic with an amazing hook (think MY BRAIN ON FIRE, EDUCATED, or FULL BODY BURDEN, not that summer you spent nannying in Europe [I'm sorry but I see so many queries like this]). #MSWL

Sam B. Farkas @SamBFarkas · Feb 5

My SFF feelings apply to YA, too -- although in YA I am more open to Contemporary Fantasy/Paranormal than I am in Adult.

In YA and MG, I'm really looking for everything and anything, but lately my tastes have skewed more Contemporary. #MSWL

In light of the continuing clusterf*ck in the book world, popping up on your feed to casually mention

1) I'm one of the handful of QWOC editors at a Big 5

2) I'm in a buying mood for more SF/F/H for adult YA & MG

3) My list is majority queer and POC authors. And I'd love more.

I have some #MSWL asks floating that I'd love to see:

For young adult:

M. T. Anderson's Feed for the post-Instagram, post-TikTok generation

a YA version of The Wire (but with more funny bits and maybe an explosion or two).

a modern queer version of Ten Things I Hate about You
