Molly Cusick @molly_cusick#MSWL: #ownvoices #MG or #YA protagonists with chronic illness, pain, and/or a disability in a story not focused on that, and where no one dies--it's just a part of life. This kind of rep is important to me & I rarely see it in subs or published books.
Same! This has been on my #MSWL for a while.
I want to see YA or adult horror/spec fic that's deeply rooted in character (We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Baby Teeth). A lyrical spec fic like The Dreamers. I am forever dying for something you could comp to Never Let Me Go. #MSWL
Dark fantasy or magical realism à la Pan’s Labryinth is another love of mine. I’ve been reading the novelization by Guillermo del Toro and Cornelia Funke, and it has that creepy, ethereal feel of magical realism and folklore mixed with a dash of horror. #MSWL Again YA/MG ONLY.
Always a sucker for misfit groups in MG or YA. Think ride or die friends, friends who are together because they're all they have, people pushed into situations where they realize, hey, we actually need each other.
If you comp Stranger Things, I may die.
But not just ghost stories, but anything dark and creepy. I just watched We Have Always Lived in the Castle (which is fantastic, btw), so creepy/gothic with an unreliable narrator is a plus. #MSWL YA/MG only.
I'm still building my MG list. Send me your MG projects!!! I'm also looking for YA contemporary, especially #OwnVoices and/or #diversity. And I really, really want more adult thrillers, horror, rom-coms, and contemporary romances. #MSWL 2/2 #writingcommunity #amquerying
#MSWL My profile on MSWL is up to date, but more specifically I’d love to see some contemporary YA written for the younger side of the audience. Lighter themes that librarians and educators wouldn’t have any trouble recommending to 8th and 9th graders.
4. AND hey, I'm a student of French & Arabic. I'll be in the Middle East soon, in Amman, Jerusalem, Hebron, Nazareth. I'd LOVE to see any story, MG or YA, by a Palestinian author (or indeed Lebanese, Jordanian, Iraqi); could be fantasy but realistic even better. #MSWL
I'm seeking: Adult: suspense/thrillers, horror, fantasy, sci-fi, contemporary romance, rom-com, & mysteries. YA: suspense/ thrillers, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, mysteries, & contemporary. MG: Horror, sci-fi, fantasy, contemporary, adventure, mysteries, & humor. #diversity #MSWL 1/2
3. In YA, charming, hooky, unexpected rom-coms by #ownvoices writers that bring something new to the genre (there's a lot around now, so it's got to be fresh) but also raise questions about life today for teens. #MSWL
Skipping over to YA for the moment: A book that shines a light on rape culture and the injustices of it. It's not something to be
silent about, and yet with the consequences that can come along with it, so many people are.(Comp: SPEAK; EXIT, PURSUED BY A BEAR) #MSWL
Jessica Sinsheimer @jsinsheimGood morning Twitter! It's #MSWL Day! 🎉☕️📚

Oh, hey #mswl! Let's see: on the YA side, I'm looking for romcoms, ghost stories, clever thrillers, fresh fantasy, and pretty much anything that can fall under the broad and general category of "literary."
