Katelyn Detweiler @katedetweileri'm terrible at #MSWL because i usually don't know what i'm looking for until it lands in my inbox and i start reading and suddenly i'm halfway through and three hours have magically disappeared...
but to try and be at least remotely helpful (!) i'm always on the lookout for new YA of all stripes, though i have a forever love of contemporary - a fresh take on an every day idea, a twist i haven't seen before, a tearjerker (ideally of the happy kind, but i'll take both) #MSWL
#MSWL A contemporary YA with a male protagonist that represents a positive view of both masculinity & femininity. A story that gives teen guy readers both someone to relate to and an example to live up to. Something that shows what GOOD masculinity should really look like.
Hannah VanVels @hannahvanvelsAlso, I'd love to get a YA OCEAN'S ELEVEN. Someone write a heist story with teen characters and send to me! #YA #MSWL
John Cusick @johnmcusickI LOVE proper espionage and spy novels in the adult space (just finished Kate Atkinson's TRANSCRIPTION), and I would love to see the scheming, plan-making, white-knuckle near-misses and Good Vs. Evil elements done for middle-grade readers. YA too, btw, but especially MG.
FYI, this is still true #MSWL
Molly Cusick @molly_cusick#MSWL: #ownvoices #MG or #YA protagonists with chronic illness, pain, and/or a disability in a story not focused on that, and where no one dies--it's just a part of life. This kind of rep is important to me & I rarely see it in subs or published books.
Amanda Isabel Ramirez (ง'̀-'́)ง @AmandaIsA_RamI need a fake dating rom-com à la TATBILB but... just make it as gay as possible.
I need misunderstandings & people assuming someone is straight when they're actually bi w that "oh shit, were you flirting w me this whole time?" moment.
& brown. Make it v brown. #MSWL #YA #LGBT
Hello yes this is also on my #mswl
#MSWL - #YA: I've become so much pickier in terms of genre fiction because I want to see something new. Give me a new twist on court intrigue or "chosen" ones. More contemporary fantasies/magical realism. Retellings of new/different stories.
#MSWL - #YA: I can never have too many queer rom-coms on my list. Ever. I want more than just boy-meets-boy or girl-meets-girl, however. The ones I am drawn to are when there's so much heart and subplots with more than just the core romance.
Katelyn Uplinger @KatelynUplingerGeeky YA or adult nonfiction pop culture. #MSWL I'm talking geeky like cosplay, Star Trek, a take on manga or anime (HUGE Sailor Moon fan over here) video/board games, etc.
