This review mentions something I love seeing in romance manuscript submissions. I want to see main characters who are not looking for romance. Who are not jealous of paired-up friends, who are not told to date/get laid, who are not super aware of their single state. twitter.com/SmartBitches/s…What I want to see instead in romance submissions are characters who are intent on achieving some sort of goal, who are leading interesting lives that get knocked sideways by the love interest. #MSWL

“Time periods I like to read about: 1920s-present day. I don’t read a lot of historical fiction older than that.“ @carlywatters #MSWL psliterary.com/submissions/

Just finished THE FIVE by @HallieRubenhold—an incredibly thoughtful work of crime nonfiction. In a genre that elevates serial killers to celebrity, it’s imperative to recenter these narratives around the victims, whose lives are too often overshadowed and lost to history. #MSWL

Sometimes your online friends aren't real. nytimes.com/2020/08/04/sty…“Dr. Marc Feldman is a psychiatrist who studies factitious disorders in which a person acts as if they, or a loved one, have a disease. He specializes in what he calls Munchausen by internet, in which such deceptions take place online.” Munchausen by internet! #MSWL

I read & watch ANYTHING that explores female friendship in all its messiness. In the past 2 weeks I’ve consumed/been consumed by: The Lightness by @knownemily, The All Night Sun by @DianeZinna, Betty, Assassination Nation, and Fort Tilden. Vastly different, all interesting. #mswl
