In YA, I’d love to find a big epic love story that’s contemporary and someone writing horror for this age group too. I loved A Good Girls Guide to Murder and would be keen to see anything akin to that.

We are reopening our #submissions tomorrow (eeeek!) so I thought I’d go through what I’m looking for this year in a hopefully helpful thread. #MSWLIn fiction I’d love to see high concept love stories for both commercial and reading group/literary crossover readers. I’m keen to see historical fiction and gothic horror - think Stacey Halls, Laura Purcell and Bridget Collins.

Karen McManus is the current YA mystery gold standard, and I’d love a comp to any of her titles. But I’d also love a creepier THERE’S SOMEONE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE; a manuscript as twisty as DANGEROUS GIRLS; or a straight-up horror, like WILDER GIRLS. Give me tension and action!

Interested in some horror right now. Think eerie horror or psychological horror rather than monster. Although I might consider certain monsters too, but less likely.😊

Hello 2021! Starting off the year with a new pinned tweet. Things to note about me:
- agented subs only
- pls don’t pitch me on Twitter
- I’m open to adult & YA subs, but I have a preference for adult
- I almost exclusively edit horror
My #MSWL is here: manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/kris…

For YA horror, I can do more on the psychological horror side. Is this real? Does this exist? As always, marginalized voices welcome! #MSWL

It’s a weird goal, but I really want to be known as the middle grade horror queen literary agent extraordinaire (flashy title, ha!). I love MG horror. I love how it stretches kids. How it can be used as a vehicle for talking about things like anxiety, grief & other big emotions. So send me your MG horror #MSWL when I reopen. I’m picky as all get-out, so the road is narrow. And obviously if I sign several authors in the same genre, they have to have different flavors to set them apart. But I want to see it.

When I reopen to queries in Jan., my wishlist is going to look different than it does now. In adult fic, I am really going to want to see upmarket fiction & book club fiction, literary fic, rom-coms, mystery, domestic & psychological thrillers, horror, & grounded speculative fic.

Horror that delves deep into human psyche and is particularly horrifying for the MC (slashers are not my fav; book horror has GOT to get under my skin to work for me)
