YA

I'm also dying for more fun & high concept middle grade series, like THE SCHOOL FOR GOOD & EVIL, NEVERMOOR, ESCAPE FROM MR. LEMONCELLO'S LIBRARY, MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY, etc. And as in YA, in MG: monsters. #mswl

YA contemporary will ALWAYS be a go-to for me. I particularly love stories that deal with heartache but lead hope-first, where the optimism always bleeds through. #mswl

I'd love to find a YA paranormal (romance or not) that feels fresh and has epic external stakes & high internal drama (and I remain partial in particular to vampires and werewolves). I love monsters of all stripes & would love something like Rick Yancey's MONSTRUMOLOGIST. #mswl

In YA I'd love to find a thriller; something that is a compulsive page-turner & smart exploration of the ways we form meaning & identity during our teen years (which includes, surely, some number of secrets!) & how we examine & challenge the ideas & beliefs we've inherited. #mswl

Among the many things I’m excited for in 2020? Working with new clients! One of the best parts of my job is the magic of falling in love with a writer’s story for the 1st time & in 2020 I'm looking to discover works across a wide range of MG & YA genres. A 2020 #MSWL thread...

I'm itching to sign up some new talent to join my amazing list of illustrators and authors! Have a look at my page and get in touch! madeleinemilburn.co.uk/looking-for/al… #mswl

I want a YA version of Never Let Me Go. Light speculative elements and haunting friendships/relationship. Kathy is a voice that still sticks with me to this very day. #mswl

I will still have the occasional ASK AGENT session from here. I'll update my #MSWL here. You can also always find my most recent manuscript wishlist on the Triada US website. Below find my current preferences. Click on the picture to see all the details. Happy 2020, everyone.😎

PSA: If you’ve written a YA in the vein of The Starless Sea, I’m gonna need to see that immediately. #mswl

First day of work @KnopfBFYR in 2020 calls for a #mswl!
- Middle grade! Give me camp & give me swimming & give me queerness, please!
- Not-for-everyone level weird/spec YA
- Can't-put-down voices
- Graphic novels! All ages, all genres, all above mswls apply to this format, too!

Lastly, we're looking for really great paranormals, whether it's #adult or #YA. On a personal note, I'm watching through Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the first time ever, and I would love to see something like this #MSWL

Judi_Lauren @Judi__Lauren · Jan 6

Another #YA and #adult #MSWL: If you can comp your book to Neal Shusterman’s SCYTHE, we’d love to see it! Give us the relatable, flawed characters and strong world-building!

Judi_Lauren @Judi__Lauren · Jan 6

For #YA and #adult #MSWL, we’re also seeking unique historicals, ones that are heavy with romance... Something like the romance portrayed in Alex & Eliza by Melissa de la Cruz

Judi_Lauren @Judi__Lauren · Jan 6

For our #YA #MSWL, we’re seeking lovable, well-developed characters who’re falling in love for the first time (such as Nancy and Jonathan from Stranger Things!) whether it’s contemporary, sci-fi, or fantasy.

Replying to @joannananamc

Still looking for a YA rom-com that’s incisive & frothy, whether it’s about partners or a novel where someone falls in love with all the many facets of themselves. A falling-in-love-with-yourself story would be amazing! #mswl

Joanna Cardenas @joannananamc · Jan 6

We're back from break, which means agents are open to queries & editors are looking for projects to acquire! I’m excited for the beautiful, memorable PB, CB, MG, & YA manuscripts I’ll get to read & consider in 2020. Adding my #mswl to the mix!

Novels that address religion for MG and YA, because both religion and books for kids and teens are about finding your place in a big world #mswl
