ENGLISH BOARDING SCHOOLS/ MANOR HOUSES. Portal fantasy in the vein of Stardust or Narnia. Pure fantasy -think LOTR. Anything with a tournament. Lighter crime/mystery set in a small English village. Historical romance that Julian Fellowes would be proud of.

Which brings me to HISTORICAL. I want it, but it needs to have a strong hook. A historical setting for the sake of vibes isn't enough, as much as I ❤️ vibes. I love books that explore real people/events, especially if those people/events haven't been represented in fiction before

I enjoy select historical fiction, particularly those with a contemporary feel that lean into setting as a character, whether that’s a dwelling (THE DUTCH HOUSE by Ann Patchett) or a country (THE HENNA ARTIST by Alka Joshi).

In YA, I'd love to see:
