Really would love more Contemporary Graphic Novel storylines in general, for all ages
For Historical, things that are NOT WW1 or WW2 unless from a POV that isn't German, Polish, English, French, or American

For YA, I'm more turning to Historical, Contemporary, and Contemporary Romance. Super selective on Fantasy and Paranormal right now, though would still love to see concepts on witches or ghosts (and vamps if unique!)

ENGLISH BOARDING SCHOOLS/ MANOR HOUSES. Portal fantasy in the vein of Stardust or Narnia. Pure fantasy -think LOTR. Anything with a tournament. Lighter crime/mystery set in a small English village. Historical romance that Julian Fellowes would be proud of.

Speaking of which, if you send me a Nazi romance, I will delete it. I can't believe I have to SAY this, but I get way too many of these. Stop.Which brings me to HISTORICAL. I want it, but it needs to have a strong hook. A historical setting for the sake of vibes isn't enough, as much as I ❤️ vibes. I love books that explore real people/events, especially if those people/events haven't been represented in fiction before

I enjoy select historical fiction, particularly those with a contemporary feel that lean into setting as a character, whether that’s a dwelling (THE DUTCH HOUSE by Ann Patchett) or a country (THE HENNA ARTIST by Alka Joshi).
In YA, I'd love to see:
👑 Queer rom coms
👑 Contemporary friendship stories
👑 Thrillers with isolated settings
👑 Horror with gothic and atmospheric vibes
👑 Historical that centers on POC stories
In Middle Grade, I'd love to see:
🧢Fantasy inspired by myths, folklore, or legends—especially if it's not European
🧢Historical that centers POC stories
🧢Contemporary with an environmental bent
🧢Horror with ghosts, creepy crawlies, and witches
🧢 Earth-based sci-fi
Here are the ADULT GENRES I am seeking in 2022:
Women’s Fiction
Book Club/Commercial Fiction
Contemporary Romance/Rom-Coms
Non-Political Thrillers/Mysteries/Suspense
Horror
Historical Fiction - with a contemporary feel

* Historicals focused on women doing amazing things—Or the women who should be credited for amazing things that are unknown
* Burning down the patriarchy
* Stories that pass the Bechdel test (this is more of a requirement than a wish list item)

#MSWL 5/5 Compelling #historical fiction that contributes to today's cultural conversation or helps us understand the world a little better--and that makes me want to google everything there is to know about that time/incident/place/culture
