Getting some traction for an old #mswl tweet so thought I should update with what I am actively looking for RIGHT NOW: Crime and psychological thrillers with a very, very, very clear hook, and wonderful MG - warm, funny, contemporary, magical - anything with a great voice!

For #YA send me all your charming rom-coms, your heartfelt exploration of sibling dynamics, thrillers that will keep me up at night turning the pages, and all the southern gothic you can handle. Oh & anything with hints of magic. I LOVE contemporary fantasy & light fantasy #MSWL

For #MG I would love a sweeping fun adventure, contemporary that deals with the growing pains of middle school in a sweet way, or something that is atmospheric w/ just a hint of magic (to name a few!) #MSWL

i also need more contemporary fantasy that draws from diverse folklore! anything in the vein of daniel josé older's SHADOWSHAPER or kat cho's WICKED FOX #mswl

i'm desperate for commercial, soap-y, contemporary YA that is both highly aspirational and has high emotional stakes. think anything from casey mcquiston's RED WHITE AND ROYAL BLUE to jennifer lynn barnes' THE FIXER #mswl

I absolutely loved Such a Fun Age. Some of the best contemporary writing I have seen about race and class. The biggest #MSWL.

My SFF feelings apply to YA, too -- although in YA I am more open to Contemporary Fantasy/Paranormal than I am in Adult.

In YA and MG, I'm really looking for everything and anything, but lately my tastes have skewed more Contemporary. #MSWL

For #MSWL in adult sci-fi/ fantasy:

- anything that reminds me of a CW show (lol)

- positive climate fiction

- near-futuristic SF with anti-capitalist critique in the vein of PARASITE
