I love YA fantasy and I’m looking for diverse stories and #ownvoices here. Where are the Latinx witches and kingdoms? Take me to places based off of cultures like my own, and not like my own. I like contemp, court intrigue, plot twists and tropes (and spins on tropes too) #MSWL

Mara Delgado 🇵🇷 @little_mswriter · Jan 18

I love myths, legends and fairytales. I’d love to see some retellings or adaptations. They can be contemporary, historical, fantasy, etc. #MSWL

Nicole Fiorica @NicoleFios · Jan 17

Hey agents! I updated my #MSWL for the New Year - I'm accepting YA, MG, and PB, looking for character-driven SF/F and contemporary stories. I'd love to hear from you, hop on the phone, or grab coffee sometime! nicolefiorica.wordpress.com/mswl/

Nicole Bea (Bezanson) @Nicbeawrites · Jan 15

I’m seeking: MG & YA fiction in all genres - YA w/ mystery or romance subplots. Adult contemporary, romance, psych thrillers, horror & suspense. I love: books featuring drama, social issues, animals, Canadian settings, ownvoices. Pls submit via Query Tracker. #amquerying #mswl

James McGowan @jamerrson · Jan 15

I’m on the hunt for a great contemporary #YA. I’m open to anything that feels fresh— and would love something like Samira Ahmed or Ben Phillips’s The Field Guide to the North American Teenager. #MSWL

Diana Gill @dianagill · Jan 15

2019 #MSWL: a fantasy or sf romance with the depth of plot, character & worldbuilding of Nalini Singh's fab books. Nonfiction like THE BUTCHERING ART. Smart, fun not-guilty-pleasure reading like CRAZY RICH ASIANS. Great YA epic fantasy (and contemporary).

Patricia Nelson @patricianels · Jan 15

It's January 15 & that means I'm now open to queries again -- and hungry to find some new talent for the new year! Send me your lyrical MG fantasy, your heartfelt MG contemp, your weird and/or witchy YA, your adult or YA romcoms, and anything else amazing. #mswl

Catherine Laudone @CatherineLaud · Jan 15

Would love a voice-driven contemporary #YA rom com (frenemies to lovers, anyone?) #MSWL

Lynnette Novak @Lynnette_Novak · Jan 15

Agents—My new year’s resolution is to acquire a voice-driven #MG (I like contemporary and magical realism!) #MSWL

Marisa DiNovis @dinovisms · Jan 9

Let's kick off 2019 with #mswl! I'd love to see:
- LGBTQ+ middle grade and YA, any genre, any time period!
- Contemporary YA with a spec twist (think Still Life with Tornado or Dig)
- Literally ANYTHING that evokes Tillie Walden's On a Sunbeam
- Graphic novels or memoirs

Sharon Belcastro @SharonBelcastro · Jan 8

#mswl Would love to see a contemporary YA where the protagonist has unusual career aspirations.

Lisa Yoskowitz @LisaYoskowitz · Jan 7

(agent #mswl continued)
-memoirs or close narrative nonfiction showcasing underrepresented experiences and unique perspectives
-middle grade contemporary with a Judy Blume vibe (fin, for now!)

Brian Geffen @Brian_Geffen · Jan 4

8/ #MSWL: High-stakes MG and YA contemp that feature breakers of tradition and characters who forge their own paths, as well as novels about identity and overcoming adversity. Wonderful books like I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter, Dear Martin, and The Stars Beneath Our Feet

Brian Geffen @Brian_Geffen · Jan 4

7/ #MSWL: Deep contemporary YA! The gritty and dark variety as well as quirky and poignant novels. Books that deal with challenging subjects, mental health, and other important questions and ideas that affect teens, but ultimately offer hope. I.e. Jandy Nelson & Nina Lacour.

Brian Geffen @Brian_Geffen · Jan 4

6/ #MSWL: I'm ALWAYS on the hunt for affecting, beautifully-written middle grade contemporary in the vein of Kate DiCamillo, Jacqueline Woodson, and Katherine Applegate. Stories that feel like coming of age experiences (I refuse to let YA monopolize this term!).
