In adult, I am particularly looking for SFF! I'm currently excited about fun voicey space books, epic fantasy set in original and well-defined worlds, and fantasy that turns a familiar trope on its head. #mswl

I am craving some gorgeously weird YA fantasy as well! Particularly something contemporary-ish. #mswl

I'm also really into YA stories that take a romance structure/trope and use it to construct a fantastic friendship story (a la FOOLISH HEARTS, an enemies-to-BFFs contemp). #mswl

My clients have pointed out that I've got a specific subset of YA Nerd Girl Romance, and I am always here for more! Queer & POC girls very welcome, and I'm more likely to be won over by the romance if it intersects with other themes - family, friendship, self-discovery. #mswl

Jumping into #mswl late! In general, I am open to a wide range of MG, YA, and adult fiction, and I'm currently taking queries! More info about my general interests here, and if you're not sure, always feel free to query: awfulagent.com/agents/bridget…

Sarah đź’« @Harriet_Vane_

Homeopathy is obviously fake but swallowing pieces of the Berlin Wall to break down one's own emotional barriers is astonishingly poetic and the beginning of a GREAT SFF story. theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/s…

Hello yes if you (someone who is not Sarah, who is represented by my MORTAL ENEMY) write this book, please send it to me, I am extremely into turning history into magic and also all the weight attached to ancient buildings. #mswl

I've been seeing more aspec characters in YA, which is great! But now I'd really love to see more in books that decentralize romance. I want more of this in YA in general, but particularly with ace/aro characters. #mswl

I have been rereading CODE NAME VERITY for the first time since my initial flurry of passion for it, and I still have the same reaction: good Jesus Christ what a VOICE.

My #mswl always includes historical fiction, but I want to have *this* reaction to it. I want a voice that's vibrant and ALIVE, that feels immediately like a person I could know, that makes the quiet parts feel intimate and the stakes feel personal.

~my specialty~

I also have one about an emotionally obtuse girl and the pretty girl who loves her, and I want more! #mswl

Bridget Smith @bredalot · 19 Apr 2018

In adult, I'm mainly looking for SFF & historical, especially the kind that's both gripping & intimate. I want a really deep dive into a character's (or community's) emotional journey. #mswl

Bridget Smith @bredalot · 19 Apr 2018

Real faceclutchers - you know, the kind of book where you have so many feelings you have to hold onto your face to keep it together. #mswl

Bridget Smith @bredalot · 19 Apr 2018

In MG & YA, I'm focusing on high-concept contemporary that's sweet, funny, and layered, the kind of book that deals with a couple different kinds of relationship including the MC's feelings about themselves. #MSWL
