I just saw the Downton Abbey movie trailer and I'm super excited!

I'd love to see in my inbox a #YA Downton Abbey-esque MS with contemporary themes! Please!

#MSWL: I'd love a YA in the vein of #SeeYouYesterday. Set in the hot center of a contemporary American city. Give me the sounds, sights, flavors of the place, all in the middle of the summer. Make the stakes as high as THUG. Make it shine with magic/fantasy. Blend the genres.

8. Book hangover. Something I haven't seen.

I have been reading in YA since I was a kid so I want to new takes on things. But I also want in on that secret of no-sleep because I stayed up too late reading a submission. #MSWL

6. I want a book that challenges the patriarchy or even the authority. Books like SUGGESTED READING by Dave Connis or THE BIRDS, THE BEES, AND YOU AND ME by Olivia Hinebaugh. Books about kids seeing how stupid adults & the rules are and they find ways to fight back. #MSWL #YA #MG

2. College set YA. But make it hella YA themes. Because sometimes the most quintessential YA themes are of finding your place in the world are actually found as a freshman in that first semester. Also, community bathrooms are SCARY. #MSWL

I know this is specific but I’d love a contemporary MG or YA where the MC has to wear a back brace bc they have scoliosis, kyphosis, or scoliokyphosis, and has to deal with all the complications it inflicts on socializing and fitting in. This was me growing up. #MSWL

Just watched @booksandlala’s video about things she liked in books. Now I desperately want a book with a smart, well-executed revenge plot in adult fiction or YA (maybe with an ensemble cast???) #MSWL

I would LOVE more #ownvoices Filipino YA or MG (set in the US or the Philippines) in my slush. My SIL is from the Philippines, my niece/nephew are being raised bilingual, I would love to find a gem to champion! #mswl

If I distilled my research properly, then teens want contemporary YA with friendship stories and diverse protagonists, but de-emphazing "issue books." #MSWL
