"Sci-fi & fantasy novels. I love them. I read a ton of them. But they have to be accessible. What does that mean? It means that readers who don't traditionally pick up much sci-fi/fantasy, can pick up one of these novels & enjoy it." @ericsmithrocks #MSWL ericsmithrocks.com/mswl

For the YA crowd. Today I learned, directly from a teen boy, that high school guys are wearing their girlfriends’ scrunchies on their wrists to indicate they’re taken. pic.twitter.com/ycWYEx2Zr3

Here are a handful of the very specific things I'd like to find for my client list (more over at the #MSWL site!): a journalistic dive into MLMs; contemporary romance w/ protagonists/love interests who are BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and/or disabled; MG fiction by #actuallyautistic authors

1) Heard fellow Hoosier Buttigieg say something today that I completely relate to: “I didn’t realize how Midwestern I was until I left the Midwest.” First moving South at 18 And then I didn’t realize how very American I was til I saved every dollar I earned to go to Paris at 21.2) It got me thinking about why I love travel stories or fish out of water stories or stories of cultures different from my own, particularly in the young adult space. Travel stretches you in ways you can’t anticipate. #MSWL But at heart, still a midwestern girl here in NYC 😉

Writing up an edit memo for a dark, fraught, twisty, emotional upmarket thriller while listening to Holly Jolly Christmas and Santa Baby and various other jingle-belly songs pic.twitter.com/Esv2rGbk9bCome to think of it, All I Want For Christmas Is You could be pretty threatening. #MSWL??!
