MG

Erin Clyburn @erin_clyburn · 24 Sep 2019

Of course, I'm dying for any MG that gives me The Halloween Tree vibes right now. (Even though there's something in my inbox right now that might scratch that itch... 😈 but send it to me anyway.) #MSWL

A realistic MG ensemble story—a contemporary The View from Saturday. #MSWL

Erin Clyburn @erin_clyburn · 24 Sep 2019

A MG light fantasy with the depth of character and heart of Steven Universe. #MSWL

Some more #MSWL - I love me a good classic-feeling, whimsical MG fantasy adventure!

Ann Leslie Tuttle @AnnLeslieTuttle · 24 Sep 2019

#MSWL. Looking for romantic comedies and women's fiction that is Up Lit and deals with female relationships and family secrets. I also enjoy historical fiction. Would also love to find some Middle Grade. And I love stories set in the South and Southern Gothics.

Dark fantasy or magical realism à la Pan’s Labryinth is another love of mine. I’ve been reading the novelization by Guillermo del Toro and Cornelia Funke, and it has that creepy, ethereal feel of magical realism and folklore mixed with a dash of horror. #MSWL Again YA/MG ONLY.

Megan Manzano @Megan_Manzano · 24 Sep 2019

Always a sucker for misfit groups in MG or YA. Think ride or die friends, friends who are together because they're all they have, people pushed into situations where they realize, hey, we actually need each other.

#MSWL

If you comp Stranger Things, I may die.

But not just ghost stories, but anything dark and creepy. I just watched We Have Always Lived in the Castle (which is fantastic, btw), so creepy/gothic with an unreliable narrator is a plus. #MSWL YA/MG only.

Lynnette Novak @Lynnette_Novak · 24 Sep 2019

I'm still building my MG list. Send me your MG projects!!! I'm also looking for YA contemporary, especially #OwnVoices and/or #diversity. And I really, really want more adult thrillers, horror, rom-coms, and contemporary romances. #MSWL 2/2 #writingcommunity #amquerying

Sarah سارة Davies @SarahGreenhouse · 24 Sep 2019

4. AND hey, I'm a student of French & Arabic. I'll be in the Middle East soon, in Amman, Jerusalem, Hebron, Nazareth. I'd LOVE to see any story, MG or YA, by a Palestinian author (or indeed Lebanese, Jordanian, Iraqi); could be fantasy but realistic even better. #MSWL

Lynnette Novak @Lynnette_Novak · 24 Sep 2019

I'm seeking: Adult: suspense/thrillers, horror, fantasy, sci-fi, contemporary romance, rom-com, & mysteries. YA: suspense/ thrillers, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, mysteries, & contemporary. MG: Horror, sci-fi, fantasy, contemporary, adventure, mysteries, & humor. #diversity #MSWL 1/2

Sarah سارة Davies @SarahGreenhouse · 24 Sep 2019

2. I'd also love to see something gothic, creepy, mysterious -- in both MG and YA. Not horror, but very creepy; perhaps a suffocating town or house where strange things happen? #MSWL

Rena *THE SISTERS OF THE WINTER WOOD* Rossner @renarossner · 24 Sep 2019

I love poetic writing, poetry, novels in verse, non-traditional forms, hybrid work, and epistolary books. (MG, YA, Adult) #MSWL

Katherine Harrison @KidlitKat · 24 Sep 2019

Hiya, #MSWL

I'm on the lookout for middle grade nonfiction that specifically explores:

1. Climate change and ecology.
2. American History through the lens of marginalized people.

Bonus points for graphic novels!

Sarah سارة Davies @SarahGreenhouse · 24 Sep 2019

What would I like to see? Lots of great MG for starters. Particularly heartfelt, hooky stories by #ownvoices writers & diverse settings. Even better with illustrative component. And high-concept fantasy that feels unique & fresh & characterful. #mswl

Jim McCarthy @JimMcCarthy528 · 24 Sep 2019

I also reallllllly want to see nonfiction. Again, MG to adult. I love memoir. I'm also into intriguing takes on history and science, anything to do with the arts or pop culture. #MSWL

Jim McCarthy @JimMcCarthy528 · 24 Sep 2019

WHAT. ELSE. I want more MG and more adult. I'm hungriest in these areas because it's what I see less often than YA. In the MG space, I want stories I haven't heard before and voices I haven't seen before. Which is BROAD but basically means: I want all of it. #MSWL

Natascha Morris @SoCalledYALife · 24 Sep 2019

#MSWL mermaids. But like, Thirteenth Year mermaids. And atmospheric mermaid lore. Can be YA or MG. But it is probably quiet, and emotionally fraught.

Rena *THE SISTERS OF THE WINTER WOOD* Rossner @renarossner · 24 Sep 2019

I’d really love to sell more YA fantasy this year, also adult fantasy. Also MG fantasy. Basically: FANTASY. #MSWL
