MG + YA Magical Realism—I’m looking for the next The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender. #MSWL

I like books that combine genres. Like I would love a horror western or a mystery with magical realism. #MSWL

This is a huge ask, but something I think about often: 100 Years of Solitude, but about a family from a marginalized community in the South. A multi-generational saga with magic realism. (Who knows; someone might be writing this!) #MSWL

Dark fantasy or magical realism à la Pan’s Labryinth is another love of mine. I’ve been reading the novelization by Guillermo del Toro and Cornelia Funke, and it has that creepy, ethereal feel of magical realism and folklore mixed with a dash of horror. #MSWL Again YA/MG ONLY.

#MSWL High fantasy with completely original, never before seen magic systems. Both adult and children's.

MG that thrills me. Bring me action, friendship, magic, fast-pace and fierce characters #mswl

I am hungry for a twisty thriller. Throw in some magical realism and supernatural elements if you want. Just please, no police, lawyers, and/or government officials as characters. They usually take all of the fun out of solving the mysteries myself! #MSWL

Magical realism in MG is another one. This was the time when most of us in TX wanted to grow up, but it was also when I think we also still had a sense of wonder. So MG magical realism feels perfect here. #MSWL
