Natascha Morris @SoCalledYALifeNow let's talk contemporaries and what I am drawn to in those so when you see my #MSWL, you'll know.
First off, I need high concept. I am not often drawn to the contemporary that could be my everyday life. I need to escape so even if it is a real world setting, it is not my REAL WORLD.
Bridget Smith @bredalotI usually like a touch of magic, but lately I've been seeing a lot of queries that seemed like great high-concept contemporaries that turned into time travel or fantasy unexpectedly.
Would love commercial high concept #MG, written in a literary style, that explores some important emotional competency for the characters (death, loss, catastrophe, violence, race, differences/disability, social justice, growing up, etc) contemp, fantasy, sci-fi, etc. #MSWL
a basic #mswl tweet for new followers & a refresher for the rest of you
*mainly* I am seeking...
YA fantasy, any sub-genre
YA sci-fi, any sub-genre
YA contemp, anything from fluffy rom-com to dark thrillers
all must have a strong romantic element & a high concept hook

Melissa @mpostenIt's the thick of holiday bookselling season, and I ask myself one question over and over every day: where are the new YA books aimed at boys? 1/12
#MSWL YA Fantasy. High Concept. No central romance (Ace/Aro welcome). Think: The Novice, Ranger's Apprentice, The Last Apprentice, Cinda Wiliams Chima, James Dashner.
