📚 Fiction #MSWL : I’m looking for emotionally resonant, high-concept stories with strong hooks and commercial appeal. Think speculative with soul, literary-commercial crossovers, or romantic-adjacent stories that are smart, voicey, unputdownable.

Some specific #MSWL cravings I’ve had these days for my YA list:

-high-concept post apocalyptic
-a romantic gothic/horror mystery
-beautiful, voicey trans/genderqueer anything
-yearning/longing vibes
-enemies/rivals to lovers
-twisted romance
-dark academia in a non-European setting

I do a lot of romantasy, and I love it. But I need a high concept hook. Something unique. Pushing the mold. Experimenting with genre. A few of my own author’s books are here.

Shorter, kitschy, high concept books that celebrate adolescence for young readers. Books that speak to their big emotions and daydreams. Humorous and playful and adventurous and classic. Think of what media used to be like in the early 2000s-memorable, lovable, serialized

MG, YA or adult, I'm always looking for high-concept, commercial reads. Great plots and hooks. Strong voices and characters in those well-drawn worlds and situations. I'm up for some genre blending. A rom-com in a dystopian world? Agatha Christie in space? Murder mystery and dragons? Do it.

right now, I am particularly thirsty for queer romance (high concept, speculative, or historical), grounded fantasy (cozy or literary > epic), and literary fiction about gender and the body, queer and trans histories and futures, and characters who are trying hard to imagine a kinder world.

I know everyone is saying this, but if I am manifesting anything in 2025 it is this: I want a big high concept book. #MSWL

Overall, I’d say that my taste is high concept with a commercial, hooky conceit, but with beautiful, lush, heady prose that you can burrow into. #MSWL
