Fantasy

What would I like to see? Lots of great MG for starters. Particularly heartfelt, hooky stories by #ownvoices writers & diverse settings. Even better with illustrative component. And high-concept fantasy that feels unique & fresh & characterful. #mswl

I’d really love to sell more YA fantasy this year, also adult fantasy. Also MG fantasy. Basically: FANTASY. #MSWL

3) New Adult SFF
Give me aliens and make that book you've been querying as upper YA New Adult bc you know it is ☝🏽

Let's go, lets go, we have an imprint just for New Adult; let's make this genre take off #mswl

2) f/f historical fiction and fantasy by queer ownvoices authors

Don't even care what time period, apparently I love historical if its f/f. Centering queer joy is my fave. 👭 #mswl

#MSWL YA or MG fantasy, sci-fi or realistic that deals with climate change.

Also in my #MSWL: thrillers, especially dark ones. Horror, especially horror/fantasy. (In all genres: MG, YA and Adult)

My #MSWL largely remains the same: stunning heartfelt MG, hard-hitting important YA, anything in verse, anything Jewish or Israeli, and fantasy across all genres. Combine any of the above and I’ll be even more smitten.

#MSWL time! I'd love an #MG like The Hazel Wood: a fantasy grounded in a specific American city, where magic mixes with the every day.

Natascha Morris @SoCalledYALife · 24 Sep 2019

I need more graphic novels. I love rom-coms, fantasy, and genre bending. Recent fave reads: JANE, PERSEPHONE, SLAM, LUMBERJANES. #MSWL

I’d love a big YA fantasy set in a dazzling world I can get lost in. #MSWL

I love quiet magic, MG fantasy that showcases small wonders rather than earth-shaking feats. #MSWL

I am IN LOVE with most books that take place in some sort of fantasy arctic tundra. Don't ask me why. I really have no clue. But if your manuscript is atmospheric and takes place in a really harsh arctic environment, I want it! #MSWL

maria vicente @msmariavicente · 24 Sep 2019

And to round out my Middle Grade #MSWL with some speculative items: chilling horror is always my jam, and I want to read your luscious, weird, wow-this-worldbuilding-is-fantastic fantasies.

Elana Roth Parker @ElanaRoth · 24 Sep 2019

My MG #MSWL is basically this: if Rick Riordan Presents would publish it, I want it. Epic fantasy adventures that I haven’t seen million times already. With humor and loads of imagination.

I'm definitely looking to add to my MG list! I love some contemp. MG that deals with tough issues, MG fantasy, and MG sci-fi (yes, sometimes even the space kind here). I'm SUPER picky about MG voice though, so just send it in and see what happens! =) Maybe I'll love it! #MSWL

Peter Knapp @petejknapp · 24 Sep 2019

#MSWL - In MG, I will say I'd love, love to find a big middle grade series, something with heart & adventure. I'd love a sweeping MG fantasy-adventure, a new take on magical schools, or something high concept, high stakes, and FUN.

I'm still accepting pitches for Adult SFF and Thrillers, although they're not at the top of my #MSWL
