Family dynamic à la Wild Thornberries #MSWL

Agented only #MSWL things I want across YA and adult: crossover fantasy (contemporary and not), magical realism, rom coms, rom sads, family stories, witches, vampires

This is weirdly specific (blame my subconscious) but I’d love to see a YA where the MC is dealing with the fallout of a parent’s very public arrest as a serial killer, and the true crime aficionados and podcasters who now hound their family. #MSWL

Oh, hello! At long last, my #MSWL page is up! I will try to keep this as up to date as possible. (I also regularly tweet things I'm looking for here.) Check it out:

Took me long enough, but I now have an official #MSWL page! manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/cour…

Ignoring the typo... this is always on my wishlist for adult fantasy!!! Also: women with magic of all ages and stages of life, beautiful&interactive fantasy settings, rich cultural influence, and surprising new applications of magic or fantasy elements. #MSWL 1/

I’ve been in such a Mood for two very different kinds of books:

(1) Southern fiction a la Kristy Woodson Harvey, with warmth, setting as character, female friendships and/or multigenerational families, and secrets/hardships that come to light. Can be A or YA!

Also looking for cute, warm picture book about family love & support #mswl

I am actively digging through my inbox looking for: #MSWL
▪️Humorous PBs
▪️PB/MG NF about science or history topics
▪️Adult mystery/suspense in the vein of Oyinkan Braithwaite, Steph Cha, Alex North, Tana French
▪️Upmarket family stories
▪️Horror: Psychological! Ghosts!

I can't tell you how often I think about films like Birdbox and A Quiet Place, and how badly I want to read more novels about parents fighting for their kids and found families in apocalyptic settings.

I mean, I also DON'T want to read them, but also I do.

Send me those! #MSWL

For #adult, I’m particularly hungry for commercial #WF. Give me a strong hook & upmarket writing. I’m open to MANY different genres here, but my sweet spot are stories that deal with family and/or long held secrets #MSWL

i would LOVE to see stories about immigrant communities - especially ones with a multi-generational family angle in the vein of mitali perkins' YOU BRING THE DISTANT NEAR #mswl

Rereading my eternal fave NATALIE TAN’S BOOK OF LUCK AND FORTUNE reminds me how badly I want an Adult Romance/Contemporary steeped in family, food, culture, and a little bit of magic #MSWL

#MSWL cont’d
‣ Puerto Rican 💕 (and Latinx/other cultures): Boricua LITTLE WOMEN (sisterhood/found family/different life paths); b&a Hurricane Maria; diaspora; brujería; santería; El Chupacabra; multigenerational

I'd be interested in seeing MG or YA that explores step-families in an interesting, nuanced way. I have step-parents, step-siblings, a former step-parent, former step-siblings, a new "step-mom" i.e. dad's third wife. It's rich. #MSWL

On the whole, I'm looking for page-turning, escapist, transporting MG and YA fiction. Light on trauma. Big on feelings—humor, romance, friendship, family connections. #MSWL

“I really love literary fiction that takes you into small worlds and communities where I'm an outsider. A glimpse inside a complex family, or a workplace.” @ericsmithrocks #MSWL ericsmithrocks.com/mswl

Yippee! My #MSWL is now live. Send me all the things on this list: manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/kary…
