Magical realism in MG and YA, especially where the magic is tied to the setting or the season. Place as character is a fav story element for me #MSWL

Jennifer Azantian 🍂🎃🍂 @jenazantian · Sep 13

Middle grade stories that dig into the deeper questions like A WRINKLE IN TIME and THE GIVER. #MSWL (2/3)

Jennifer Azantian 🍂🎃🍂 @jenazantian · Sep 13

And since I am particularly craving MG, I'll include some of my most desired elements today. If you have these, do send them!

Creepy or spooky stories that are still age-appropriate like CORALINE. #MSWL (1/3)

Anything mg or YA that can be comped to AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, especially if it heals my poor Zutara-shipping heart. Most of all, I love the character interactions in ATLB, the fully-realized sweetness and depth. Plus the unique world! #MSWL

Ask @ryandouglassw, @KatyaDeBecerra, @LizParkerWrites and @2furiosa - I like my YA dark. Horror, dark fantasy, paranormal, ghosts, vampires, werewolves, spirits. Scare me and you’ll win my heart. #MSWL MG, YA, and Adult.

I am so proud to represent MG and YA based on diverse mythologies and cultures like @thebookGLUTTON’s CHARLIE HERNANDEZ AND THE LEAGUE OF SHADOWS, and @KSekouM’s TRISTAN STRONG PUNCHES A HOLE IN THE SKY, but I want more! #MSWL in MG, YA, and Adult.

Rena *THE SISTERS OF THE WINTER WOOD* Rossner @renarossner · Sep 13

I want more epistolary, non-traditionally-told stories, like @_CoryLeonardo’s incredible upcoming THE SIMPLE ART OF FLYING, give me snippets of letters, poems, medical logs, in MG, YA or Adult. #MSWL

#MSWL Underrepresented minority and/or interracial romance, gene hacking, modernized Slavic heroic quest, characters with identities that span communities & their struggles, characters with East Asian, Slavic, and African heritage, & dark fairy tale retellings. MG, YA, Adult.

Coming late to #MSWL Day: Educational PBs that read like trade ones; character-driven MG; truth-telling YA; all of it diverse; #ownvoices preferred.

Jessica Sinsheimer @jsinsheim

Good morning! It's #MSWL day!

Agents + editors will be tweeting what they wish they had in their inboxes.

Writers can take note of which agents may be a good fit, and then submit work traditionally.

Need any help? @kkhendin and I are standing by!

I've been pretty vocal in the past week about what I'm looking for, but I'll say it again with the #MSWL tag!

- Thrillers! 😳 (Adult & YA)
- Horror! 😰 (Adult & YA)
- Contemporary YA 😎
- Speculative 🤔😍 (YA & adult)
- Fantasy ⚔️🔮🛡🐉(MG/YA/adult)
- Hilarious MG 😂

Dipping out of sabbatical for #mswl!

First, I’d love to see more nonfiction. Especially interested in ecology/conservation & American history through the lens of marginalized people.

I’m also on the lookout for big-hearted, voice-driven middle grade—with plenty of humor, obv.

Masha Gunic @masha_gunic · Sep 12

Most importantly, whatever ya or mg story it may be, a unique voice and complex characters will instantly draw me in. Ultimate #MSWL

JenniferMarchSoloway @marchsoloway · Sep 12

#MSWL Still looking for a creepy MG ghost story. One of my favorite books as a kid was THE HOUSE WITH A CLOCK IN ITS WALLS*, by John Bellairs. Would love to find a modern day haunted house MG.

(*The illustration of the headlights still keeps me up at night. Eep!)

Jessica Watterson ON HIATUS @JessWatterson · Sep 12

To cap off my #MSWL if you have a MG with themes similar to those, Esperanza Rising, pretty please send it my way. :)

Amanda Isabel Ramirez @AmandaIsA_Ram · Sep 12

I'd love to see more #MG and #YA fantasy adventures / magical realism stories rooted in Caribbean and Latinx cultures in my inbox 👀🌴 #MSWL

Lisa Abellera @LisaAbellera · Sep 12

A little late to #MSWL today but love to see Adult, YA, or MG fantasy based on Filipino mythology and folklore.

Alex Slater @abuckslater · Sep 12

Please send me #MG that you’re afraid pushes the envelope, concerning topics some might think “aren’t suitable”...yet that’s exactly why you had to write it. Send me your truth. #MSWL

Catherine Laudone @CatherineLaud · Sep 12

Would love to see #MG or #YA where the protagonist has to interact with the older generations. Imagine a world where the parents or grandparents aren’t dead, complacent, or missing—come on, dream with me. 😃 #MSWL

Catherine Laudone @CatherineLaud · Sep 12

It’s #MSWL day! Agents—I’m desperate to see more #MG in my inbox! Looking for voice-driven contemporary and magical realism like #Rooftoppers and historical like #TheWarThatSavedMyLife and #BostonJane Also open to a fun fantasy—looking for the next #EllaEnchanted!
