More #ownvoices queer and trans love stories in YA would be excellent! And YA graphic novels, too.

YA / crossover is the big one, and there I'm looking for new takes on big commercial / genre, as well as funny, uplifting, voice-led novels, and (always) teen books full of sex, politics and content that teenagers actually want to read but that gatekeepers are sh*t scared of...

“I’d really love to get more YA horror in my inbox. Smart horror. I don’t want gore, I want a story that creeps me out, and asks questions I don’t want answers to.” @ericsmithrocks #MSWL ericsmithrocks.com/mswl

I'm largely a kids and YA agent, but I do also represent adult work - especially bold non-fiction with a clear hook and (often) socially progressive aspect - feminism; socialism; environmentalism; internationalism; mental health; prison reform - I'd love to see it.

I also love horror horror - YA, middle-grade, even commercial-literary adult fiction. Creepy, cinematic psychological horror with some kind of genre twist or social justice message would be an absolute dream.

This is weirdly specific (blame my subconscious) but I’d love to see a YA where the MC is dealing with the fallout of a parent’s very public arrest as a serial killer, and the true crime aficionados and podcasters who now hound their family. #MSWL

#MSWL Would really love some mega queer YA. So long as it's hooky, I'm not super picky about genre (just not huge into high fantasy/high sci-fi). I love being surprised by pitches I might not've normally expected to go for. (A lot of what I bring to acquisitions starts that way.)

An update to my #MSWL:
I'm looking for more MG & YA thrillers/mysteries in my inbox. Whether you have an unreliable narrator, a group of friends trying to solve/find something, or some weird magic going on, I'd love to see it!

If you have THE VILLAGE meets Neil Gaiman's STARDUST but for mermaids, hit me. (the mermaids should be the monster) #MSWL #YA Thanks @Almost_Anna for that comp!

I was obsessed especially with the early T H I C K books. The later skinny ones didn’t appeal as much (though I still read them). I think the fat ones made me feel like I was reading very adult books. Favorite? Probably Hollywood hopeful Roxanne, set in 1938. pic.twitter.com/jPfhJhJcBnI was obsessed with this entire line. Obsessed! I would love to rep an awesome YA historical romance ala Sunfire! #mswl

Leverage was such a good show. It reminds me that I still want my YA heist book! #mswl

#mswl I'm looking for romantic comedies, and slow-burning romances. No non-fiction, historical novels or memoirs. I'm very selective with YA/NA but will take a look if the plot pulls me in!
