I’m gearing up for 2020 and decided to add picture books to my wish list, but I’m also removing adult fantasy and adult sci-fi. I still want MG and YA in those (and other) genres. See my pinned tweet for deets. #MSWL #WritingCommunity #amquerying

OKAY TWITTER. What's the new YA genre trend going to be? Let's decide now so we can all start drafting our dystopian-vampire-werewolf-super hero-space novellas and get 2020 off to a banging start.I know mythology tends to skew MG, but I’d LOVE to see more global mythology and folklore—especially in genres outside of action/adventure. I know y’all have some spooky folklore ripe for horror. And rom coms with minor deities? Guided journies through loss? Yes. All of it. #MSWL

#amquerying writers, I'm going to dedicate time over the holidays to read submissions, so now is a great time to query!I'm eager to find more middle grade, from contemporary standalones & illustrated MG to sweeping adventure & fantasy series. I'd love more YA contemp & grounded YA fantasy or "twist of magic" stories, too. And YA paranormal (I'm here for your vampires & werewolves) #mswl

It's that time of year when I'm really in the mood for cozy mysteries. I'd be really excited to see a contemporary YA or upper MG that has diverse characters, a playful, intriguing hook, and isn't dark or super serious--like Goldie Vance / Scooby Doo / Hallmark level drama. #MSWL

As the cold and the holidays are upon us, I’m craving some #feelgoodfood for #feelgoodFriday, and this recipe for ex-boyfriend latkes by Molly Yeh is calling to me! Could be a fun #YA novel feature, no? #MSWL

I had a weird dream about a girl who lives at the base of a dormant volcano in a part of the world covered in ice/snow. Reminded me of Sue’s remote airfield in Nat Geo’s Life Below Zero. Huge red building housed all life. Transient hikers come through. #MSWL isolated teen in YA!#MSWL Same feel as The Space Between Us—that isolation, but the action/romance/loss takes place at her remote location rather than the girl going to “civilization.”
