Across the board, I'd like to see more funny books, but especially in picture book and middle grade. #MSWL

Tuesday and I'm thinking a bit about my #mswl

I'm feeling *cosy* at the moment. I want stories that are all vibes and textures. Driftwood, oak floors, cobbled streets. Everything from PBs to NA give me your stories that are curl up in the corner, low stakes, hot coffee.

I have started calling picture books that are fun and entertaining and a bit commercial with a subtle message or theme as "pickles". They're not really vegetables, but they are made out of cucumbers. Kids don't think of them as vegetables (but again, cucumbers). That's the PB I want #MSWL

I’m looking for immersive settings, a strong love story, & a high-concept plot. Give me adventure, humor, and swoon-worthy romance—whether it’s a daring quest, a fairy tale reimagining, or a kingdom on the brink of change. I want magic, unforgettable characters, and a romance that feels epic. #MSWL

Something that keeps rattling around the back of my brain for picture books is the idea that there are consequences for our actions (good and bad). Apparently a lot of people missed this memo, but I think it's one worth hammering home 🙃
