While #ownvoices and #diversebooks have caught on in YA, I'm still struggling to see it in adult and, frankly, that's what I want more of. #MSWL My target genres right now are: literary & upmarket fiction, mystery, suspense, thriller, & women's fiction.I would love to see more POC & LGBTQ characters starring in all of these areas. I want them living their best (or not best) lives, but I'm not as interested in coming out stories as such. #MSWL

Authors, I'm on the hunt for gentle bruisers. That scary mofo coming at you in a dark alley? He’s an amazing lover & will make you breakfast just after he breaks some guy’s face. Any subgenre. If contemp I'm a big fan of @MollyOKwrites & @Charlotte_Stein.

And you'll make me positively SWOON if there are PoC and/or LGBTQ+ protagonists!! #MSWL

Prentis Literary recently discovered our website submission algorithm incorrectly sorted submission authors designated as 'POC'. Instead, it took POC as part of the word aPOCalyptic as in post-apocalyptic. So begins the search for months of POC/Intersectional fiction in our queueIn lieu of this, any #POC writer, or writer whose work is steeped w/intersectionality who hasn't heard from us but submitted late spring/early summer & on...

So here's a new picture. I don't put my kids' pictures on the public internet, but with my daughter's approval -- this is part of her "burning anger" -- here she is, adding her slogan, #keepourcountrycolorful, to one of which she approves, not far south of the border. pic.twitter.com/aQLniu1USF#MSWL When I eventually reopen to queries, I want to see all the middle grade manuscripts about girls burning with anger at injustice in the world and how they’re fighting back, especially by and about POC and other marginalized groups.

But when agent screws up, authors sometimes have trust issues.I get it, totally. Please don't hesitate to query me & talk opwnly if you were recently impacted by 1 of these events where an agent didn't do their job according to industry standards.I would love to see your work. 2/#MSWL Adult and YA fantasy, sci fi, romance. "Fluffy YA books by POC and LGBTQ+ writers. As much as I love angst and think “issue books” are super important, I also love ridiculously fun stories that make readers feel good about life (including their identities)." @msmariavicente #MSWL mariavicente.com/representation/

Speaking of Shakespeare, wouldn't mind seeing a modern take on MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING or MIDSUMMERS NIGHT'S DREAM in a YA contemporary or YA/Adult Fantasy.Much Ado about Nothing has been my favorite Shakespeare since the 4th grade. I wonder what it would look like set in a high school. Definitely a #MSWL. Must star IPOC.
