#MSWL: A modern day A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (one of my favorite books!) with a POC protagonist

Annie Bomke @ABLiterary · Sep 24

I still want historical fiction that focuses on a well-known or largely unknown historical figure. Famous authors/movers/shakers, people who knew/loved/were related to famous authors/movers/shakers, like LOVING FRANK. #MSWL

#lgbt #mswl I'd like to see more adult or #YA stories featuring polyamorous relationships (any genre as long as it's in my wheelhouse)

Tia Rose Mele @TiatheTiger · Sep 24

I really, really want a book featuring a baking contest. Like kids’ baking championship on Food Network, but for MG or YA! #mswl

In this vein, I am always up for books that have interesting family dynamics with kids who have to figure out who they are in that context, especially in contrast to their parents. How they fit into the fabric and how they can also be themselves. #MSWL

I still want books that focus on internet culture, fiction and nonfiction. #MSWL

All my old #MSWL tweets still apply, FYI. My tastes haven't really changed.

I am dying for romances in YA & Adult. Queer preferred. Commercial, high stakes concepts with a fun angle. Interracial couples w/non-white partners. Light-hearted but not cutesy. 2011 Tumblr-angst. #mswl

#mswl Some #fantasy court intrigue like THE CITY OF BRASS or GAME OF THRONES (but hard pass on all the sexual assault in the latter)

And I can't say this loud enough: I'm itching for a true murder mystery! I want to play detective along with the characters, I want to try to guess who did it & be wrong & right & wrong & right #MSWL

+ SUPER important for the characters to be well developed, without being caricatures of detectives & bad guys - tell me a story that makes me invested in the characters not just the criminal act (all hail queen Tana French!) #MSWL

#MSWL Team sports in middle grade and YA. Would especially LOVE a high school girls team with a few main characters. But I'm also a sucker for Friday Night Lights...

Carlisa Cramer @carlisajc · Sep 24

My forever #MSWL is a YA or MG about a character with a chronic illness (especially type 1 diabetes).

Replying to @adriamgoetz

A link to other #MSWL items I've tweeted over the years.

Just went through and deleted some of them, because there were several wishes which were granted!✨This is why I post so many #MSWL items—because this silly hashtag actually works.☺️

as a gal with many straight, strictly platonic, male best friends, I would love to see more of that in both YA and Adult #MSWL

Annie Bomke @ABLiterary · Sep 24

I'd also like some upmarket fiction that revolves around an event that changes a group of people. #MSWL

Caitlin McDonald [social media hiatus] @literallycait · Sep 24

#mswl Something with the fun #DnD vibe of #CriticalRole or The Adventure Zone. Could be straight fantasy or a mix of game narrative and "IRL" plot about the group of gamers.

Elana Roth Parker @ElanaRoth · Sep 24

Thing I’ve noticed: my YA list skews more girl, and my MG list more boy. I’d like to balance that, but still maintaining my overarching tastes: high concept, good plots, not-issue-books, joy and exploration and fantasy (both literal and just escapism). #MSWL

On this #MSWL day I'm hoping for an adult female coming of age. Growing up as a girl is so much more complicated than as a boy, let's explore that!!

On that same note, relationships between mothers and daughters always fascinate me... think The Act or Sharp Objects (minus the Munchausen by Proxy) #MSWL
