Ashley Hearn 🕷 Preorder FOREST OF SOULS (6/23)! @AshleyHearn
I've officially updated my MSWL profile to reflect what I'm looking for at Peachtree Publishing! It's changed a bit—particularly regarding stories that skew toward the younger end of the YA market—so take note!manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/ashl… twitter.com/AshleyHearn/st…
I'm especially on the lookout for high-concept stories w/ a standout voice, and strong coming of age themes that speak strongly to teen issues, without those issues defining the plot.
In all submissions, I'm prioritizing inclusive, diverse stories and marginalized voices. #MSWL

I've noticed an uptick lately, so just a friendly reminder that I do not allow attachments in queries. Please copy and paste the work into the body of the email.

i love this post on looking beyond how you (or how people you know) would react to bad news when writing your characters’ reactions because there's no👏🏽such👏🏽thing👏🏽as👏🏽the👏🏽right👏🏽way👏🏽to👏🏽react👏🏽to👏🏽tragedy.here's a non-exhaustive list: the-right-writing.tumblr.com/post/969846484… #writetip pic.twitter.com/04WwTkxANm
i think all of us fall into the trap of expecting people to react within a certain fairly small range of possible ways to bad news. i know i can be limited by my ideas of what feels like a "normal" reaction + i love complex characters that challenge me to unlearn my biases. #mswl

#MSWL in all the contemporary YA (or MG) I read, I like to see boys being feminists and practicing healthy relationships and consent. ALWAYS queer-positive. I'd also love to see a #nonfiction proposal talking directly to boys about feminism and consent.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but: the male and female leads in your story don’t HAVE to fall in love. They can love each other deeply. Trust each other. Have an unbreakable bond. But not every straight male/female dynamic HAS to be a romantic/sexual one.Yes! #mswl
