@agentsaba @abuckslater It’s just a personal fave. One of the few books I’ve reread. For me, it hits that commercial/literary sweet spot perfectly. Smart enough to make you feel smart, but accessible enough to be read easily (even at its length).

I've been seeing more aspec characters in YA, which is great! But now I'd really love to see more in books that decentralize romance. I want more of this in YA in general, but particularly with ace/aro characters. #mswl

I'm going to need everyone who talks about books to stop calling things "magical realism" if it doesn't centralize a post-colonial perspective and critique of regimes, government, and socio-political oppression. Some magic in your white bread town doesn't make it magical realism.

He isn't doing anything illegal, but is it APPROPRIATE? HELL NO. Could you imagine this, but in a small town, where a behavior like rubbing the girl's shoulders or something else could be excused. Or had been so internalized by the town? 3/

All this to say, I am not a fan of abuse books, but this kind of book would fascinate me. Someone from the outside, who sees this, and sees something off and doesn't know what it is, but knows it is wrong. And then has to fit the town's internalized acceptance of it. #MSWL #YA

Clarification on #MSWL for #NA when considering to submit to Flannery Literary:

#NA (New Adult) - Looking for protags that are just finishing HS thru college-age (18-24ish). They should be dealing with issues prevalent in #YA and issues relating to transitioning into adulthood.
