Really wanting to see some cozy mysteries from BIPOC creators...and queer it if you got it. 👀 #MSWL

Karen McManus is the current YA mystery gold standard, and I’d love a comp to any of her titles. But I’d also love a creepier THERE’S SOMEONE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE; a manuscript as twisty as DANGEROUS GIRLS; or a straight-up horror, like WILDER GIRLS. Give me tension and action!

I hope to continue to see excellent YA mysteries and thrillers, Romance and Big Friendship stories (or any intersection of the two that permeates high school!), MG adventure and sleuths, and historical fiction that tackles big issues in very personal and direct ways #mswl

For mystery, I'm mostly interested in cozy mysteries, particularly those created by & featuring queer, BIPOC, and QBIPOC characters. I want intrigue, humor, & fresh takes on all the fave tropes. Please no cop-centric stories. #MSWL

Generally, I'm looking for mostly Adult right now, and specifically from BIPOC and QBIPOC creators. Contemporary romance, paranormal romance, historical romance, contemporary/upmarket fiction, cozy mysteries, thriller (non crime), light horror, & light fantasy. #MSWL

When I reopen to queries in Jan., my wishlist is going to look different than it does now. In adult fic, I am really going to want to see upmarket fiction & book club fiction, literary fic, rom-coms, mystery, domestic & psychological thrillers, horror, & grounded speculative fic.

Mystery, in certain subgenres! I saw an editor #MSWL asking for “fresh cozies for millennial readers,” which, yes please! As in YA, I'm absolutley looking for queer mysteries. Some dislikes: No young children in harm’s way/being secretly evil. No cop MC’s or love interests.

Queer YA genre fiction of any kind. Fantasy, Mystery, Thriller (I didn't know I liked thrillers, but SURRENDER YOUR SONS got me this year), Sci-fi, Romance, Historical, Horror (as long as it's not too grisly; think Hill House, not Halloween). Most especially from QBIPOC #MSWL

Find me a Black Jewish MG or YA! Please! Maybe a romcom or a mystery or a love story? Preferably not about anti-Semitism and definitely not about the Holocaust or WW2. Something substantive and joyful! (And I’m ok w/not substantive, just pure fun, too!) #MSWL
