Something I want to add to my #MSWL is that I find the rules of being a translator, especially for a deaf person, to be interesting. It would be interesting to see an MG about a child who has to speak for their parent (whether deaf or non-English speaking) and to see what happens

So, time for another #MSWL, in the run-up to tomorrow's #askUpstart session. HUMOR, people! I love books that make me laugh, in every category; PB, CB, MG, YA. Here's a couple reasons why:

I would love to find a unique retelling of a fairytale or folktale for the #mg #YA or adult market! #MSWL

My kids are Chinese American. My son, in particular, doesn’t often see himself reflected in the books he reads. I’d love to see more #ownvoices MG books featuring male Asian American characters. #MSWL #askUpstart

A middle grade novel starring a girl like this would be amazing. Something along the lines of Frankie Landau-Banks for the mg set. #MSWL

I love, love, love historical fiction. It has to be gripping and immersive. I'd love something about the post-WII period, esp if set Berlin. #MSWL

I'm looking for fiction for kids and teens that relates to issues happening in our world right now: the refugee crisis, the opioid epidemic, the Flint, MI water crisis. #MSWL

It's also time for more #MSWL! Generally, I rep all categories of children's and YA books, both fiction and nonfiction. At the moment I'm most hungry for MG and YA fiction.

Though I'm known for my love of dark books, I also love light, funny YA and MG, including romcoms. #MSWL #WishlistWednesday

#MSWL When I eventually reopen to queries, I want to see all the middle grade manuscripts about girls burning with anger at injustice in the world and how they’re fighting back, especially by and about POC and other marginalized groups.

I'm still looking for culturally rich MG/YA fantasies with inspiration outside of western cultures. #mswl

In both YA and MG, I need more fantasy. Fair warning: I will be picky. I am looking for lush worlds, complex characters, and writing that sweeps me away. #MSWL
