I'm feeling sappy lately and want to read the most unapologetically angsty romantic arcs you've ever seen in children's fiction. I was raised on magical girl stories; you can't scare me. (Please not that I don't rep MG/YA category romance in prose but love a romance subplot in fantasy.) #MSWL

In the spirit of #MSWL day, here's what I'm craving in children's comics and MG/YA fantasy: any trope in Kingdom Hearts but especially amnesia plots, complex betrayals, friends separated for magical reasons and trying desperately to reach each other, and mysterious lore that's somehow consistent.

For clarity, I only represent age categories MG and up. For MG & YA I’m open to all genres fiction and nonfiction. On the adult side I only work on genre-adjacent or genre-lite fiction (no straight contemporary or anything that wades too deeply into the genre space). #MSWL

Always on the lookout for projects by disabled and chronically ill creators — think GOOD DIFFERENT, ELLEN OUTSIDE THE LINES, and CHRONICALLY DELORES (but for MG).

Character-driven, humor-infused stories with a solid hook across formats—picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, and middle grade.

I would love to find more cozy fantasy for YA/MG, and just cozy books in general. When the world is a dumpster fire, sometimes we just need a little escape where there are still stakes and things to do, but in a way that doesn't cause massive anxiety. #MSWL

#MSWL I'd love to see wuxia or xianxia stories from Asian writers or the diaspora, either in YA/MG. I find stories from Asian history and folklore fascinating and want to see more from authors from those cultures. But I'm not interested if it's from a cultural appropriation self-insert perspective.

This will forever be a #MSWL for YA/MG: kids/teens leading rebellions and speaking truth to power. Especially right now, when so many of them *are* leading the rebellions against those who want to oppress us.

I often crave dark, spooky, creepy stories in YA/MG, especially during fall and winter—those darker times of year. There’s something about it that especially makes me want to curl up with a good ghost story. #MSWL

For middle-grade (novels and GNs), I lean toward mysteries and puzzles. Light spookiness is okay, but nothing too scary creepy for me, please! Think THE GHOST OF SPRUCE POINT by Nancy Tandon (nancytandon.bsky.social, one of my clients) and GHOST SQUAD by Claribel A. Ortega.

Hooray hooray, it's #MSWL day! So excited. :D Quick background about me: I'm an associate editor at Penguin Workshop, editing primarily licensed titles for major brands and media partners. However, I am also open to (and eager for!) MG and YA submissions. I am only looking for agented submissions.
