Can't believe I have to put this on my #MSWL but please only send me human-made stories. I won't consider any projects created with AI art/writing or even ones for which generative AI was used for inspiration. Please don't send me AI-generated queries or synopses. AI is my sworn enemy.

If my username didn't tip you off, it's definitely a bonus if your kidlit project is funny! I love comedies, parodies, satires, and witty adventure stories. I prefer hopeful and fun stories, so if your book makes me cry it probably also needs to make me laugh. #MSWL

Contemporary children's comics that, can't stress this enough, get weird with it. I want events, choices, and dialogue that are surprising but still feel natural within the context of the book. I talk a lot about wanting "remark"-able events; scenes that readers will tell someone about. #MSWL

I'm feeling sappy lately and want to read the most unapologetically angsty romantic arcs you've ever seen in children's fiction. I was raised on magical girl stories; you can't scare me. (Please not that I don't rep MG/YA category romance in prose but love a romance subplot in fantasy.) #MSWL

In the spirit of #MSWL day, here's what I'm craving in children's comics and MG/YA fantasy: any trope in Kingdom Hearts but especially amnesia plots, complex betrayals, friends separated for magical reasons and trying desperately to reach each other, and mysterious lore that's somehow consistent.

#mswl I've received very few graphic novel proposals since re-opening to queries, so I want to shout from the rooftops that, as a graphic novelist myself, children's comics are my jam and I want to see all of your pitches! Comics are so important!

#mswl I am gleefully losing my mind at the characters and tone of MAY I ASK FOR ONE FINAL THING and can't believe that the season is already ending this Friday. Turns out I love when elegant ladies get to punch baddies. Make me laugh while keeping me at the edge of my seat!

#mswl I adore will-they-won't-they romance, slow burn, established pairings, and more. I'm open to all YA graphic novels including romcom, but for prose I'm strictly open to children's fantasy, spy, and heist, not contemporary romance. It was listed in error on querytracker, now fixed.

While I'm open to all MG and YA fantasy I'm especially craving second-world, epic fantasy adventures. Lately I've been devouring the Alanna books by Tamora Pierce. Send me stories with unusual crafting trades and competent protagonists.

I'll be accepting queries for all of December and possibly past that. If you want to make sure I see it, please try to get your query in before the new year, but I'm hoping to keep my inbox open more regularly. ✨📚✨
