2/3 My #MSWL for pitches is: adult work only in fantasy (all categories), mystery, thriller, romance, women’s fiction, upmarket, and maybe even a thriller. My dream acquisition would have been The Night Circus. I like work that has hints of magic and a bit of darkness.

As stated on my #MSWL on the official MSWL website and the Metamorphosis website, as far as fantasy I’m really only looking for magical realism and urban fantasy. I prefer low fantasy and if it’s very high concept it’s probably not for me.

Young Adult/New Adult: I am open to magical realism, contemporary fiction, thriller (+), mystery, and low fantasy. I am especially on the lookout for a sports story (where sports is the center of the story, like the shows Spinning Out, Pitch).

Middle Grade: I am looking for mystery stories! I also welcome magical realism and contemporary. In contemporary, I am especially looking for a story where sports is a big part.

I want a cozy magic, witchy book. I want hygge but in a contemporary fantasy book. #MSWL

I'm also only considering memoir and sci-fi very selectively. I'm not the best fit for epic/high fantasy (think Game of Thrones) but I do like magical realism, urban fantasy and some paranormal and horror.

In adult fantasy I always want a little romance with my magic like in A Marvelous Light by Freya Marske #mswl

My middle grade list is fairly full, so I am only looking for: magical realism, contemporary, or mystery series (or with series possibility).

Weird and wonderful YA novels. Just the slightest touch of magic, or stranger, or unsettling in an otherwise ~perfectly normal~ world. #MSWL

Upmarket speculative fiction. Grounded fantasy, magical realism, retellings of fairy/folk tales, horror. The majority of my favourite books of all time live in this genre. #MSWL

I have some favorite topics and genres. I have a soft spot for portal fantasies, magical realism, time slip, nature-heavy settings, popular science, religion, myth, philosophy, gothic fiction, handcrafts, biographies, and music.

Ok, writer friends... I would LOVE to contract an author who can write a series of super sexy Why Choose novellas (30-40k each) for fast-paced releases! (Remember they need some type of magic for our Mystic line!) #MSWL

Based on what I’ve been gravitating towards in queries, I’m adding to my #mswl :

-stories with seemingly mundane magic incorporated into our world
-stories about academia and graduate students (not dark academia, but either realistic or fluffy academia)

Make it a *magical* competition (pageant or otherwise) and this is an instant #MSWL

Heck, make it a intergalactic pageant. Go wild. Please.
