“Literary fiction that genre blends, commercial fiction that takes me somewhere unknown, and rom-coms that make me laugh and swoon.” @ericsmithrocks #MSWL ericsmithrocks.com/mswl

Happy New Year! The @ParkandFine children's team is looking forward to 2022, with so many incredible new projects in the works from our talented clients. We're also excited to continue to add new authors to that list. Here's our 2022 manuscript wishlist! #MSWL pic.twitter.com/cD59n0FR2tWe're always on the lookout for literary middle grade that capture the emotional turmoil of growing up. Think WHEN YOU TRAP A TIGER, WHEN YOU REACH ME, THE THING ABOUT LUCK, THE LINE TENDER, etc. #MSWL

I am eager for more high-concept sci-fi and fantasy with literary and upmarket feel. Examples of my favorites in this space include THE POWER by Naomi Alderman, THE AGE OF MIRACLES by Karen Thompson Walker, and THE NIGHT CIRCUS by Erin Morgenstern.

For fiction, I am open to all genres. I <3 stories with dysfunctional, messy, and flawed protagonists. My taste gravitates towards literary and upmarket fiction (in the vein of EXCITING TIMES by Naoise Dolan, WHITE IVY by Susie Yang, THE VANISHING HALF by Brit Bennett)…

A #MSWL mini thread since I'm just dipping a toe into the querying world. 🧵I love all fiction, with a soft spot for magical realism (think 100 YEARS, of course!). Lit fic, spec fic, and sci-fi are also high on my list. Fantasy like BLACK LEOPARD. Psych fiction that slowly unravels, like RED PILL. And not always, but sometimes, a great love story.
#mswl I would really love to see any submissions of literary and book club fiction and beautifully written narrative non-fiction to read as the cold nights draw in and the pooch snores contentedly next to me 📚

I also LOVE horror in general! Horror with social commentary & twists on common tropes, like EAT YOUR HEART OUT & WHAT WE HARVEST. Atmospheric--all the dark, creepy vibes (strange small towns & dark forests never get old for me!). Beautiful literary writing is always a plus.

“I really love literary fiction that takes you into small worlds and communities where I'm an outsider. A glimpse inside a complex family, or a workplace.” @ericsmithrocks #MSWL ericsmithrocks.com/mswl
