Select horror—I’m more interested in psychological elements, but I don’t mind a bit of gore. Anything disturbing or unnerving is up my alley. Novels + collections welcome! #MSWL

In #horror, I'm not afraid to go dark and am open to supernatural of some kind. However, I do prefer things be grounded. Like how Midnight Mass was OUT THERE, but also very realistic? Somehow? I also love the psychological horror that overlaps with #mystery or #suspense. #MSWL

I'd really like to work on a great novel or two this year. I'm looking for propulsive #suspense, edgy #mysteries, and grounded #horror. I love dark books that keep you guessing, with characters that are well drawn and memorable. #MSWL

I have a soft spot for grounded stories with touches of speculative fiction, cheeky, self-aware humor, and elevated horror.

I am *not* the right editor for mss that contain sexual violence, stalking, or predatory behavior, or picture books with animal characters.

YOUNG ADULT:
--QTPOC romance with banter, emotionally complex, flawed characters, and ✨ intersectionality ✨
--High-concept speculative fiction examining current issues (esp horror & magical realism)
--Sweeping historical fiction about untold movements, events, or individuals

Would love Horror that pulls from non-European legends, too. Myths or superstitions and whatnot that feed into this creep factor

For MG, horror that feels realistic to kids. Not something that seems to push things too far

I’m hungry for horror that leans on eerie, atmospheric, and unsettling. MEXICAN GOTHIC by Silvia Moreno-Garcia will forever be a favorite in this space. I don’t mind gore, but I’m typically not drawn to it. I prefer to feel scared, not grossed out.

Horror! As if 2021 wasn’t scary enough, I want something that gives me chills in the new year! Recent faves include MEXICAN GOTHIC, THE ONLY GOOD INDIANS, THE SANITORIUM, and anything by Riley Sager. If it feels like the movies Midsommar or It Follows, I want to read it!
