In YA, I'd love to see:
👑 Queer rom coms
👑 Contemporary friendship stories
👑 Thrillers with isolated settings
👑 Horror with gothic and atmospheric vibes
👑 Historical that centers on POC stories
I REALLY want some COLLEGE-AGE YA! I binged The Sex Lives of College Girls and just adored these characters so much. I want to see diversity, humor, willingness to be messy, friendship, and honesty.
There can be romance, but it doesn't need to be the center of it all.

* Positive female friendships—Give me girls supporting girls. Girls teaming up for the greater good. Girls who love their friends with their whole hearts.
* Underrepresented voices
* Fresh takes on fantasy
* Stories with a speculative twist

The next HELLO GIRLS remains on the top of my #MSWL, but as I consider endless, emotional, meaningful platonic love and the types of female friendships that are ride or die in the way my own have been—especially as teens, in high school, in YA—let's add BOOKSMART as an example.I cannot and do not have enough stories about tight-knit female friends. I don't care what they're doing or what genre they're in as long as they're together, rejecting all the expectations put on young women, and refusing to be separated. #MSWL

I really wish I saw more ridiculously strong friendships in books. the ride or die friendships, the “I don’t want a future that doesn’t have you in it” friendships, the “I can’t wait for my kids to call you aunt/uncle” friendships.I fill my books with them and hope it shows 💛

“I love novels that deal with female relationships. Think: best friends; mother-and-daughter(s); sisters (incl twins!); sisters-in-law; mother-in-law and daughter-in-law; and girlfriends.” @ceciliaclyra #MSWL psliterary.com/submissions/

On the totally other end of the spectrum, I want YA and especially MG contemporary graphic novels! I want heartbreaking friendships and first crushes and discovering yourself and coming into your own.

A new year and a new age have me feeling revitalized and hungry for new projects. Here’s a quick lil #mswl while my work computer wakes upTop of my list is juicy contemporary romance. Give me humor, give me tears, and above all give me side friendships as nuanced as the main romance #mswl
