Okay hear me out....YA novel w/ MC who somehow meets the FBI agent (or whatever group) assigned to monitor/watch MC (like how we all have one) and hilarity ensues. Agent is just trying to be helpful (like whenever MC is looking for something) and MC just so annoyed? #MSWL

MC talking to themself or someone else: I’d really love to get ____

Agent: *helpfully sends links to sites that sell it*

MC: LEAVE. ME. ALONE. ALEX. Or I’ll expose you!

Agent: I’m just trying to help 🥺🥺

Genuine friendship eventually ensues. They meet in person someday #MSWL

Graphic & hybrid novels & series are welcome too! Some examples there from my past titles would be DORK DIARIES and THE OKAY WITCH. Quintessential MG stories about finding your way through the labyrinth of family, school, & friendship twists and turns.

I really want some relatable women’s fiction about millennials finding their way in the world, taking the wrong paths and learning as they go. I want to see relationships tested —familial, friendships, romantic etc.

We’re especially interested in novels about the dark side of friendship – e.g. SOCIAL CREATURE by Tara Isabella Burton or THE SECRET HISTORY for a new generation

Since I'm opening back up for queries tomorrow, I thought I'd share some--not all--of my #MSWL must-haves.

1st up, I want a pair of witchy sisters or witchy friends with ancestral magic wrestling angry restless spirits in a dark setting, like a swampy, marshy woodland.

I love novels that deal with female relationships. Think: best friends; mother-and-daughter(s); sisters (incl twins!); sisters-in-law; mother-in-law and daughter-in-law; and girlfriends. Bonus points above apply.

Hey agent friends! I've been really craving some more middle grade submissions in my inbox. I love stories that focus on friendship, family, and culture--regardless of genre--with an eye towards projects by authors from the margins. Please send me your MGs 🙏🏼 #mswl

Countdown #MSWL Day 5:

Stories with quieter/more personal stakes are my jam. I'm a sucker for getting lost in a character as they try to figure things out with themselves or those around them.

Also if you have a friendship breakup story please send that my way!!!!

Wish we embraced falling in friendship love and the magic of friendship love in general. It really is such a magnificent, kindred soul-shifting experience that can manifest in so many wonderfully different ways. It truly deserves its own genre of art, movies/TV, writing, music.

This is a huge #MSWL for me!

If you have a book focused on friendship, whether it's the ride-or-die kind, the I'll fight to the ends of the earth for you kind, or the we grew up together and this is how we navigate change kind, send them to me when I reopen!

#MSWL. And, especially during today’s #PitMad, I am seeking stories that resonate with hope. A beach read is always welcome as are stories involving motherhood, parenting and female friendships.
