1/4 #MSWL Board books: early learning concepts (dates & time, body, senses, cooking/food, money); series proposals; economic and gripping language; LGBTQ+; diverse families and ownvoices; author-illustrators.
Natascha Morris @SoCalledYALifeUniverse, I am hungry for books, so send me ALL THE BOOKS!*
*I may come to regret this when I get swamped in queries.
YA: Much the same as MG--humor, realistic teen stories, #ownvoices, adventure, sci-fi. Also, love a good teen romance, horror, mystery, but not super-dark.
Children's NF at all levels: curriculum tie-ins, PB bios, multicultural history, science, sports, pop culture.
So moved by #IDanielBlake on BBC2 last night. I'd love to hear Daisy's voice in children's fiction. What's life like for a 12 yr old when your mum can't make the rent? When you have to move 100s of miles to be housed? When your Mum has an apple while you're having your tea #MSWL
Opening up our @DA_Childrens submissions for 2019! If you're working on an #ownvoices #MG adventure with an unusual mythology, a diverse #YA that's as funny as Louise Rennison, some ground-breaking children's #nonfiction #PB or ANYTHING ELSE #kidlit send it my way #MSWL
Likewise, I always have room for more own voices work for children and teens from poc, lgbt+, queer, neurodiverse, disabled and other marginalized authors and illustrators. #mswl
This year, I'd love to see more trade non-fiction for children and teens that goes beyond a traditional biography! Show me science, history, cultural movements, our planet, etc. in ways I haven't seen before! (bonus points if it's a graphic novel!) #NonFiction #pb #mg #ya #mswl
I've reopened to queries and represent fiction, non-fiction and illustration for children and teens! (Sorry, I don't represent works for adults, but a lot of my lovely @bookendslit colleagues do!)
You can query me at queryme.online/tmarchini #mswl #amquerying
Rashmi Sirdeshpande @RashmiWriting1/3 What do we need more of in children’s literature? - Books that better reflect society, books with varied family structures, books with quiet heroes, books that challenge gender stereotypes and toxic masculinity, and more creative, UK-grown children’s nonfiction! #GEAvember
Couldn't agree more with @RashmiWriting's thread. In these scary times these are the stories I'm looking for and what I hope children's publishing will become. We need to tell stories for every child... #MSWL
#MSWL When I open up my queries again, I want the fluffiest most uwu romance / contemporary (adult or children's) fiction with PoC and/or queer protagonists (Not secondary characters fitting the bill and no one is allowed to die!)
Chloe Seager 📖@ChloeSeager is responsible for the agency’s children’s and young adult book business as well as science fiction and fantasy. In children’s, Northbank represent all genres of young adult, middle-grade and age 5-8 fiction and non-fiction. #MSWL
more baseball for children and teens, please! (I would love a middle grade about Negro league baseball and/or the AAGPBL – either historical fiction or non-fiction.) #mswl
