One of the things I'm interested in doing A LOT MORE OF when I reopen to queries on 9/1/21 is ADULT fiction, specifically:
So if you're writing any of these, *please* query! #mswl
Amanda Jain @wensday95Hello my nonfiction writing friends! I have a TON of #mswl tweets for you this morning, so buckle up.
A couple of years might have gone by since this #mswl thread, but I'm still looking for nonfiction projects like these.
Hey y'all! I'm closing to queries at the end of the day today to be fair to all the ones I currently have. I hope to reopen again in the Fall (and if you have an upcoming conference link, that will still work!) #MSWL
I want some on both sides of the spectrum: light and dark.
Something in the vein of Sadie, Behind Her Eyes (but YA), and Knives Out. But also something ala On My Block, Outerbanks, or Scooby-Doo, haha.
I love treasure hunts and heists btw!
Diverse, IR romances and romcoms:
I want both MCs to be POC and the relationship to be multi-cultural &/or multi-ethnic pls! IR can exclude WASP ppl.
For this think Someone Great, Lovebirds, Photograph, Talia Hilbert, Jasmine Guillory, Honey Girl
Think Crimson Peak, Edgar Allen Poe, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Mexican Gothic, Ninth House, Ace of Spades, dark Gossip Girl, & Addams Family!
Give me a heavy atmosphere & aesthetic.
How I would KILL for a BIPOC Yellow Wallpaper x Haunting of Bly Manor
So #writtingcommunity & #amquerying folks, I'll be re-opening to queries September 1st! 👀
That means it's time for an updated #MSWL!!
I'm moving away from fantasy right now and want to see the following from BIPOC writers:
#MSLW I've seen queries before w/ worlds where water is scarce. Would love to see something like this in the YA or even MG space when I reopen to queries. You can always put something like "#MSWL For YA drought-world book" or whatever the MSWL is in the referral space.
#mswl Actively looking for historical fiction rich with culture (ie: Egyptian, Asian, Indian). I’m talking stories with strong, progressive girls or women that seemed to been born in the wrong time. Time travel is also absolutely accepted.
Morgan Al-Moor @MorganAlMoorDid we ever get rom-coms with speculative elements? Witches fake dating or student rivals to lovers in a lunar academy?
Hello, yes I would like #MSWL this one so hard.
“Actively seeking fun / funny gift books, especially with a lifestyle twist to them. Open to a really wide range of topics on this one, so be creative!” @claire_m_harris #MSWL psliterary.com/submissions/
I've updated my #mswl and submission guidelines and will be opening to queries again this Monday, 8/23! I am so excited to read more wonderful stories from children's graphic novelists and middle-grade prose authors. 📚💖 jdlit.com/tori-sharp
