As it turns out, a lot of avian species—from parrots and penguins to owls and nightjars—glow in ways we can’t see. trib.al/mXY8zasI have no idea how the heck a glowing bird would feature in a book BUT I am willing to learn so please, #mswl for all odd, eerie, magical animal traits that are somehow actually legit (or based on a real thing)

One of my weird obsessions is Wicked Tuna, a show about tuna fishermen. I’d love a novel about a career that is essentially a whole community lifestyle. See, eg. farming, fishing, etc. #MSWLThis could be especially interesting in YA, if a kid either wants to join the family business or break free from it... #MSWL

#MSWL A YA featuring a teen entrepreneur who runs a business like this one-- a man who allows you to "rent" him to fill a role (IE, fake friend/dad/wedding date/etc). theatlantic.com/family/archive…

My request for women in power in fiction is NOT AN ASSAULT ON MEN IN POWER. It is simply what I want to see in kidlit, for the sake of raising young people who KNOW women can do anything and know that women, doing stuff, doesn't threaten men or their right to do stuff too.So, I say again. #MSWL : Women in positions of power. And MEN WHO ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THAT and interact with it in a way that doesn't attempt to re-assign the power back to men on some skewed definition of equality.
