#MSWL I only represent children’s books, but I work with everything from board books through YA, both fiction and nonfiction. In board and picture books I prefer seeing submissions from author-illustrators.

Highlighting some #mswl in either YA, NA or adult: horror of any variety. Looking for really unique (new twists) romantasy, fantasy from soft to epic. Also where are my sci-fi space opera writers? 🤣 In addition to my other tweets on what I want.

While I am open to all speculative fiction, I'm really looking to add more ya & mg horror/thriller/mystery authors to the list 🕷 #MSWL

In YA: don't be afraid to push boundries. I'm NOT a good fit for clean fiction (If you see former MSWLs from 2015-2020 where I did request this it was due to my former agency's requirements). I'm drawn to bold, boundry pushing topics that teens can relate to.

Voice/Opening pages: For MG/YA--I prefer strong voices, and authentic voices, opening pages where I feel grounded in the world quickly, and a clear sense of character and stakes. (I'll elaborate more below).

I love all types and age ranges of horror, but I don’t get a lot of these submissions in YA! I’d love to see more of them.

And for some updated things I’m looking for, alongside the above:

High concept and YA/Adult mysteries/thrillers, like THE BLONDE DIES FIRST and THE LAST MURDER AT THE END OF THE WORLD.

Patrick Ness's THE REST OF US JUST LIVE HERE meets THE HUNGER GAMES or THE GRACE YEAR.

Basically hypernormalisation against a dystopian setting. #MSWL #YA

-Dystopian in Adult and YA. This seems to be coming back! I prefer ones with action and social commentary, think Hunger Games. #MSWL

-horror with social commentary as opposed to being just highly commercial. horror with romance. Diverse horror. This is in YA and Adult. #MSWL

-YA sports romance or contemporary romance. I really like almost all sports so pretty open here. Priority for sweet, light, romance plots, also queer and BIPOC stories. #MSWL

#YA : again, I’m looking for high concept stories with a strong hook, cozy fantasy with a strong voice and unforgettable characters, unique or fresh take on vampires or the eternal one trope. Cryptids? I want to believe.
