-Fluffy YA rom-com.
-Well-written psychological friendship book (YA)
- Literary-esque but cinematic fantasy YA and MG
- Historical Fiction like @RutaSepetys
- Quirky, Fun, Voicey MG

In contemporary YA, I want stories where teens have departed "their usual world" for some reason. Humanitarian trips, visits to ancestral places. Immigration/refugee stories rooted in truth. An updated GIRL: INTERRUPTED style departure from their usual would be amazing. #mswl

I am opening to YA fantasy and contemporary queries! On my YA #MSWL: fantasies that are entirely new worlds,new fairytales. No generic regency-style fantasy worlds. Bring me new applications of/restrictions on new magic, uncommonly featured stars of the story, relevant parallels.

Historical is hard in YA and Adult but ohhhh, I love it so. Tell me a great story of under-studied women, events, and areas of history. Give me spies and queens, codebreakers and slice of life, THE ALICE NETWORK and OUTRUN THE MOON. #mswl

YA romcoms are my jam. Always have been. I want to see more STEM, fun jobs, and unique hobbies. DON’T DATE ROSA SANTOS, WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI, ROYALS, and ALEX, APPROXIMATELY are perfect examples of voice, humor, and substance in contemp YA romcoms! #mswl

Also, when I say "YA about religion" on my #mswl, I mean books that handle religion the way this show does: as one part of the push-pull of regular life, as one part of figuring out the complicated shape of the world

I don't understand the desire for writers to always do multiPOV. I am so burned out by them. Can I just get some single POV fantasies? #MSWL #YA

In MG & YA: I ❤️ stories that feel a little off-kilter. Something is up in the town/neighborhood & it may be otherworldly...or is it? That kind of thing #mswl

Side note: THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR is one of my favs because it has so much heart, but also such a wide canvas. It's structurally ambitious with its interstitial chapters. It takes on a huge topic but is also ridiculously intimate in its portrait of two families. LOVE. #mswl

I am always on the look out for a smart, funny YA rom-com, with heart and preferably some type of strong hook. Also just an incisive love story a la THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR. I love love! #mswl

For MG and YA, I love books that explore family dynamics. I can go both ways here: books exploring family problems, or books where the family acts as something of refuge from the main conflict. #mswl
