I love grounded SFF/all types of horror/commercial romcoms/and issues-driven stories.

Listen I know fantasy loves its mages, assassins, warrior princesses, and knights but please give me more scholars, shamans, mapmakers, artisans, and bards - I would love to see more creatives having adventures in SFF! #MSWL

#MSWL In this I'm also including worlds that blend tech and magic, so this can include a mash-up of fantasy & sci-fi too!

Adult:
Upmarket, commercial/literary fiction, book-club fiction, magical realism, rom-com/women’s fiction crossover, historical, mysteries that are fun and light with a genre blend, science fiction (whether five-minutes-in-the-future or epic), fantasy, and romantasy.

Chinese dynasties, older African cultures.

Scifi: space operas! And all the punks, steampunk, cyberpunk, scavengerpunk. Oh and aliens.

A note on romance. I do very much appreciate the submissions I've gotten and am reviewing them carefully, I'm just really picky about romance

6) For YA, I would love a high concept thriller, something broody and moody but also tightly plotted in the fantasy/horror space (I adore "House of Hollow"!!), and heart-wrenching, emotional sci-fi like "The Ones We're Meant to Find."

For sci-fi horror, I love it all. Creepy sentient alien spaceships, Event Horizon vibes, The Luminous Dead, The Last Astronaut,The Thing, The Descent, Underwater - give it to me…

When it comes to near future, I want to see books that remind me of Arrival: first contact through a new lens. I also LOVED Ascension, and anything with that sci-fi thriller feel, with the caveat that if you would comp it to Black Mirror, it’s not for me.

For sci-fi give me space opera, political intrigue, terraforming, alien species and first contact. I loved A Memory Called Empire, Some Desperate Glory, Murderbot, Becky Chambers (Psalm for the Wild Built is the perfect solarpunk sf)…

I have a major soft spot (and this goes for both fantasy and sf) for nuns, monks, convents, religious orders, clerics and leviathan gods. I’m also a sucker for anything Arthurian, Middle Eastern & North African, anti-colonial…
