I will be open to most genres of YA and Adult including but not limited to contemporary, romance, thriller, speculative, dystopian, issue-driven, fantasy, eco-fiction, sci-fi. Here's some things I'll be keeping my eye out for. (1/8)

My bookshelf is 50% character-driven sff/speculative/spooky, 50% realistic contemporary/historical (coming-of-age romance, mystery/thriller, action-adventure, and verse novels), mostly by BIPOC, queer, or traditionally underrepresented folks, & my taste very much reflects that.

#MSWL Agents, I've been seeing some fantastic YA sff subs. I'll never say no to sff that captures my heart, but I'm also on the lookout for gorgeously written verse/prose, layered coming-of-age (historical or contemp) esp if it weaves in queer romance and/or mystery/suspense.

In sci-fi and horror think Love Death + Robot themes like Zima Blue, Ice, or Jibaro. I love a blend of culture, punkfuturism, anticolonialism, humor, and a pinch of weirdness.

I thought I might try a #MSWL thread with a slightly different spin. Agents, these are a selection of my favourite books of all time, in no particular order, so you can get to know the kind of SFF I love.

I'm open to Graphic Novels for all age groups.

I'm open again to science fiction and horror, though still being extra picky there. I like my horror to have social commentary.

#MSWL Also space ships, generation ships, small ships, big ships, near-future, far-future, aliens, human or not, space exploration for the joy of adventure, space exploration to save earth from disaster, aliens come to us, nice aliens, bad aliens, neutral aliens.

#MSWL I love the voices of Andy Weir & Martha Wells in science fiction. Andy is so smart but the science feels approachable. Plus his voice is real & smart, witty, real. And totally same vibes from Martha. They make science fiction approachable & easy. Give me that.

I lean more towards fantasy than sci-fi, but always love an intricately built space opera. I'm more attracted to the human aspects, so what I'd really love is a Space Soap Opera: imagine Shonda Rhimes writing a show, but setting it on a spaceship. High drama + high stakes! #mswl
